Swimsuit Skins were arguably the most popular items in the shop during the summer of 2024. Let’s be real: Nexon knows its target audience, so it is no wonder that those Skins brought in a lot of revenue for them. But the fans are happy, the developers are happy, and everyone wins here. The saddest part was when the Summer ended and the Swimsuit Skins (for Viessa, Gley, and the guys) had to leave the shop. Winter is coming and Nexon had to prepare other seasonal Skins (like the ones we got for Halloween). The fans were devastated, asking when they will be back, and when will other Descendants get their own Swimsuits Skins. Finally, Nexon answered, promising that all The First Descendant characters will get their Swimsuit Skins come next Summer.

On November 6, TFD’s Discord opened up an official Q&A channel where players can ask questions, and hopefully one of the devs present will answer them. That is how we saw that shared Skins are coming to the game. A couple of players asked when we will get more Swimsuit Skins and the devs had this to say.
“All descendant’s swimsuit is coming next summer! But in the meantime, we’ll be creating even more awesome skins to show you! For now, please look forward to the new skin reveal next weekend.”
“Please look forward to Haley’s bikini next summer. But also get excited for the new Haley skin coming soon—it’s going to be amazing!”
When asked if more revealing skins will be added for the male Descendants, the devs said: “We plan to reveal it! It’s in preparation, and we’ll share the news with you soon!” Think they kind of missed the subject here, but bear in mind that a lot of these communications are done using automated translators, so something will definitely get lost in translation.
Fans Overjoyed
Unsurprisingly, the fans are quite happy with this. Sure, it is going to be a while before the next Summer comes along, but at least we have some confirmation. You get comments like “note for my bank, add a temporary account for this big spend” by encryptoferia, “Finally Gley your time to shine!” by volcano3160, and “Blair in swim trunks” by Alexastria. Others comment that the devs know their audience and they know that the revealing skins work the best.

Those more skeptical members are worried that the devs are maybe leaning too much into cosmetics at the expense of gameplay. Some even go so far as to say that they don’t believe the game will “survive” until the next Summer.
We are pretty optimistic about the future of the game as Nexon has been making the right calls so far. As for the new Swimsuit Skins, the next Summer can’t come soon enough. With Halloween over, Nexon said that they will reveal more content and Skins for Season 2 on the weekend of November 16-17. We also expect to see some winter-themed ones. Stay tuned!
