January 16 was the date every TFD player was looking forward to. That is the date when the server maintenance was scheduled, to welcome the highly-anticipated second major update of Season 2. When the maintenance period was nearing its end, Nexon encountered a critical issue and The First Descendant maintenance had to be extended.

The First Descendant Scheduled Maintenance End Time Postponed by Six Hours to Resolve a Critical Issue

Unfortunately, Nexon came across a critical issue when applying the update and had to extend the whole procedure by 6-7 hours. According to their official X announcement: “During the server maintenance, a critical issue was identified, making it unavoidable to extend the maintenance period to ensure a stable service environment. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this extended maintenance and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”

The Updated Maintenance End Time

Nexon provided the new schedule for when the server maintenance will end. Of course, if nothing critical happens once again.

  • PST: 2025.01.16 (Thursday) 10:00
  • EST: 2025.01.16 (Thursday) 13:00
  • JST: 2025.01.17 (Friday) 03:00
  • CET: 2025.01.16 (Thursday) 20:00
  • AEDT: 2025.01.17 (Friday) 05:00

Nexon Offers Some Goodies in Compensation

To make up for this unexpected turn of events in TFD, Nexon offers some free items to all the players. “As an apology for the maintenance extension and considering the inconvenience caused to in-game event participation after the update, we have prepared the following compensation items.”

  • Gold Boost (30%)
  • Kuiper Shard Boost (30%)
  • Descendant EXP Boost (30%)
  • Weapon Proficiency Boost (30%)
  • 40 2025 Tokens

They add that the exact schedule for this compensation has yet to be revealed. Most probably after they deal with the pressing issue.

While we understand that some players may be miffed with the whole situation, it’s better to identify the issue now, with everything shut down, than have it wreak havoc while everyone is in-game.
