Colossi are an important part of TFD. Defeating them is needed to open the majority of Amorphous Materials. They also serve as the “bosses” in the main story, with every “chapter” ending in a Void Intercept Battle. Some Colossi can be easily taken down solo, however, others have more complex mechanics, requiring you to be in a group. More often than not, that group is composed of randoms, and it can be quite tough to communicate properly with them. All of that is amplified by a couple of bosses that require almost perfect teamwork. Add the fact that some people join those fights hoping to get carried and leave as soon as things go south, leading to a lot of frustrated players. Fortunately, The First Descendant devs have teased some incoming nerfs and further changes for Void Intercept battles, primarily dealing with those problematic Colossi.
Incoming Nerfs for Molten Fortress, Gluttony, and Similar Colossi in The First Descendant
Some Colossi, namely Molten Fortress, Gluttony, and Frost Walker all have complex mechanics, requiring high levels of teamplay to beat. Usually, if even one squad member does not know what they’re doing, it leads to a total party wipe. Players complain that they’ve tried dozens of times to beat a boss, but always end up losing, due to other players.
As we all know, the official Discord Q&A is where devs give out the most information on a daily basis. One player noted that the aforementioned Colossi have quite complex mechanics and that it is very hard to communicate and coordinate with your fellow players. On that note, the devs had this to say:
“Thank you for your feedback. We plan to improve the success rates for Frost Walker, Molten Fortress, and Gluttony. Adjustments will focus on reducing the requirement for party play and making solo play more viable.”
Gluttony and Molten Fortress are the least popular Colossi at this point, so any nerfs to them will be warmly received by the community. But that is not all!
Devs Consider Some Changes For Ripping Off Colossi Parts
We’ve all been there. After a lot of tries, you have finally managed to grab onto a Colossus’ shoulder plate and started ripping it off. But a second later, you drop down, as your friends destroy the plate you are on. Another player brought out the subject of ripping off Colossi parts and asked whether something could be done about destroying breakable parts while another player was hanging on. This was the answer the devs gave us:
“We’ll discuss with the relevant team whether it’s possible to ensure that extraction parts are not destroyed by other attacks during extraction.“
This would be a great change and would prevent a lot of “feels bad” moments. Great to see the devs looking into minor issues as well as the major ones.
