The long-awaited dev broadcast and Q&A finally came to pass. It was divided into two parts: the first was the devs talking about Season 2 and upcoming improvements, and the second was the live Q&A, since the Discord dev Q&A channel has been temporarily disabled until Season 2 goes live. One of the first topics that the devs tackled was Keelan, the new Descendant who’s about to join the roster any day now. Up until now, we only knew that he’s a Toxic Arche Descendant and had vague descriptions of his Skill. But on the live broadcast, The First Descendant devs revealed details (and the numbers) for all of Keelan’s Skills and his Passive.

Keelan’s Skills Revealed in More Detail

So, on December 1, The First Descendant Devs have finally revealed the details of Keelan’s Skills. First and foremost, he’s a Toxic Descendant with Singular and Fusion subtypes. And now, for the skills.

Erosion (Passive)

Keelan’s passive gives you stacks of Acidification that increase your Skill Power Modifier, and Deception, which seemingly increases your movement speed. Both of these are gone if you’re out of combat for 10 seconds.

Void Corrosion (Fusion)

The first Skill is Void Corrosion, which shoots a number of homing projectiles that deal damage and apply Acidic Erosion, which deals continuous damage for 10 seconds. The more stacks of Acidic Erosion, the greater the damage.

As far as we can tell, the number of additional projectiles scales off your Skill Effect Range buffs. What we also noticed is that Void Corrosion’s cooldown is longer than the duration of Acidic Erosion, meaning that it is mandatory to have some Cooldown Reduction to make the most out of this skill.

Onslaught (Singular)

The “main” Skill, Onslaught makes you dash forward, passing through enemies and dealing AoE and Knockback at the end. Every enemy hit, by both the dash and the explosion will suffer the effects of Acidic Erosion. The best part is that you can use Onslaught multiple times in a row and while airborne. The more enemies you pass through, the lesser the cooldown is. Both a great damage skill and a mobility tool.

Septic Gust (Singular)

The “infamous” skill, Septic Gust is Keelan’s AoE. It deals Acidic Decay (or Erosion, the game can’t make up its mind) and Blood Rot/Septicemia to everyone in the area. If an enemy dies while under the effect of Blood Rot, they explode dealing even more damage to enemies nearby. Sounds like an awesome horde-clearer.

Tremor (Fusion)

Keelan’s last skill has two uses. First, it can be another horde clearer, as it deals tremendous damage to surrounding enemies, based on the number of Acidic Decay stacks they have. If there are no enemies around, Tremor will grant you some stacks for your Onslaught skill, getting you ready for the upcoming fight or just adding you more dashes to move about.

Keelan’s Skills use Acidic Infusion, instead of MP. As far as we can tell, Keelan gains levels of Acidic Infusion when he hits enemies with his Onslaught.

Players’ Thoughts and Reactions on Keelan’s Skills

Those lucky players that playtested Keelan have a couple of feedbacks. The first is over-reliance on Onslaught, ie, other skills don’t see that much use. In that regard, the devs said that they plan to reduce the “cost” of Tremor and Septic Gust so that you can use them more often. Furthermore, the devs plan to increase his passive duration a bit.

What the fans are happy about is that, even though Keelan can clear entire rooms pretty fast using his skills, it is not a “one-click” solution, like Freyna has. A lot of fans are already planning builds, waiting to see what his skill Crit Rates are and already farming for the best Reactors.
