Tokyo Game Show 2024 has officially ended. Next to all the big announcements, like more PS5 Pro previews, Death Stranding 2 announcement, and more, Nexon had an interview on September 29, where they answered fan questions. If you remember, they even posted a thread on X, asking for players to submit their questions. Well, the interview is over and some burning questions have been answered (some more, some less).
Some Questions From Nexon’s Q&A on the Tokyo Game Show
IGN Japan has shared a five-hour-long video of TGS Day 4. Somewhere around the third-hour mark (3:13:00 to be exact), Nexon comes up on stage to do their interview and the long-anticipated Q&A. Here we will post some of the most important questions and answers (big thanks to im_vasco for posting these).
Skins
“We’ve put a lot of effort into the character appearances. We were confident in how they would appeal to players in Korea and Asia, but we were curious about how players in the West would react. Fortunately, after the release, we received positive reactions from all over the world, which made us really happy.
While the reception has been positive, the high expectations have also brought challenges. We’ve received some harsh feedback, and we’ve been working on how to address those criticisms.“
Player Feedback
“Yes, we’ve received feedback about the puzzle-based mechanics and penalty-focused battle balances. I want to apologize again for not meeting expectations in this area. Moving forward, we’re focusing on delivering the exhilarating battles players want. We’re designing new battles with more diverse monsters instead of puzzle-based gimmicks.
For example, the update scheduled for October 10th will introduce the “400% Invasion Operation” with waves of monsters. This content won’t rely on penalties but will instead take advantage of elemental bonuses, making it enjoyable for both advanced and growing characters. We’re also revising the new defense missions to focus on intuitive mechanics.
We’ve also got an update planned for late October that will address feedback on resource defense missions, shortening the playtime and enhancing the monster-battle experience. Through Season 1, we’ve gained a lot of insight into what players want, and we’re committed to applying those lessons moving forward.“
Progression From Standard to Ultimate Descendants
“The development team is exploring ways to transfer part of a standard character’s progression to the ultimate version, though we don’t have specific details or a timeline yet. We’ll update you as soon as we can.”
Endgame Content
“Yes, we’ve received feedback that the current top-end content is lacking. In Season 2, we plan to introduce new endgame content, including a harder difficulty for special operations and higher difficulty levels for intercept missions.“
Mid-Match Joining
“We currently don’t think mid-match joining is necessary due to the relatively short playtime of our content. However, we understand the concern that this request stems from instances where players leave during a mission. We’re considering adjusting the difficulty dynamically if a player leaves mid-mission.“
Player Trade
“Before release, we mentioned that we were preparing a trade system. However, right now, we’re prioritizing stabilizing the service. Instead of implementing a trading economy, we want to focus on improving individual farming environments and offering better ways for players to spend excess resources.“
TFD fans everywhere are in for a treat when the October 10 update goes live, so once again kudos to Nexon for being this transparent with their player base.
