It finally happened. From now on, the eyes of the players are safe from all the special effects that can overwhelm the screen. Now, you can completely remove the infamous explosion effects in The First Descendant.
We recently covered the community’s thoughts on the sheer amount of explosions that can happen in the game (especially with multiple Gleys using Restored Relic Launchers). Players complained that it’s too much, with some jokingly (or not) saying that it can damage their eyesight. There is a way that you can minimize the amount of explosions, but we concluded the article by saying that Nexon probably won’t add the option to completely remove all the explosion effects. We stand corrected, as that is just what they just did!
Complete Removal of the Explosion Effects in The First Descendant Is Now Possible
The most recent patch, the 1.2.8 Update, added a ton of very cool improvements. It mostly dealt with External Components, Modules, and more. It also added a number of QoL improvements and fixed the Ines’ default skin issue. But, one of the hard-to-miss changes is that the settings for showing explosions have been expanded and now you can select to hide everything.
As before, from the game’s menu go to Options, and then select the Display tab. Scroll down to the “Show explosion effect during combat” setting and you will find that a new option has been added: “Hide all targets”.
It does what it says on the tin: the launcher will fire the projectiles, yet they won’t make any explosions when they hit.
So, if you had issues with the excessive explosions, either due to them overwhelming your rig and leading to lags, or simply trying to avoid going blind, you can now breathe a sigh of relief.
