Are Bunny Mains Beneficial or Detrimental for the New The First Descendant Players?

The First Descendant Bunny looking at a group of Vulgus

Anyone who has spent significant time in TFD has encountered the infamous Bunny mains. Those players who just zip past you and clear up everything in the vicinity before you get the chance to realize what’s going on. Bunny is the absolute best character in the game when it comes to clearing waves, dungeons, and the like, so having one running around can speed things up. But, not everyone is happy about it as some players are sick and tired of Bunny mains taking all the fun.

This is How the Game Is

At least for now, the state of the game is just like that: Bunny players speedrun everything. Newer players start the game, expecting that some planning and teamwork is required only to find out that a single Bunny has cleared everything in no time. For the rest of the players, the game is just “sightseeing”, as said by Songbird329 on Reddit. But, is having a Bunny who clears up everything good or bad? Well, a bit of both.

Cons

If you are looking for a team experience, where each of you will contribute to the squad in a unique way, you’ll be disappointed. At the current state, the game is so fast-paced that players want to complete missions as soon as possible. Any semblance of making friends and careful teamwork in public missions is gone if there is a Bunny on the team (and more often than not, there is).

“Unfortunately, this game isn’t conducive to making friends. Players tend to focus on their tasks and leave right after.” said danhserious and a veteran player named Multiguns added: “100% It’s sightseeing for us “vets too”. The game has lost a LOT of players, and many of those players have sighted this very reason for why they ultimately quit…But I’m barely hanging onto this game and like so many others before me have, will be quitting soon. And yes, Nexons refusal to address Bunny is absolutely among the top reasons why.” You can also argue that Bunny clearing everything prevents newer players from properly learning the game, which can come back and bite them at higher levels.

Unfortunately, squads do not need anything else than an area clearer and a boss fighter, at the current state of the game. Descendants that act as tanks or healers are far from necessary. Hopefully, this will be changed with the introduction of those announced “mega dungeons” or any similar content that leans towards team play.

Pros

In a nutshell, TFD is a game of grinding. To get the blueprints and other parts that you want, you usually have to repeat the same mission/boss fight over and over again. Over time, you’ll be looking for ways to do those missions as soon as possible. That’s where Bunny mains come in.

Whether you are grinding for blueprints or leveling in the famous Kuiper Mine, having a Bunny (or two or three) on your team will speed things up immensely. “You think this way initially but after some time you learn to really appreciate these people because they make missions that take long very short. Helps with leveling and loot in general,“ said Chuomge. Extremely useful if you want to level your alts, for example.

Conclusion

As always, this all boils down to your personal preference. While it is a fact that a Bunny can help you clear missions in a fraction of the required time, some players would rather skip that in favor of more team-based missions. We can always argue that both Bunny players and team players can go into private servers or make their own private parties. But for those that want to join public servers and look for friends to play with, chances are you’ll get paired up with a Bunny main.

The next big update is scheduled for October 10, so we may see some changes when it goes live. The current state of the game encourages fast-paced gameplay, whether we like it or not. Personally, even though we’d like some squad-based gameplay, we appreciate those Bunny mains that help us level our characters faster.
