When you first start playing The First Descendant, the in-game name you get is the same as the one you have on your platform (Steam account name, PlayStation Network, Xbox profile). There is no option to change it so you’re stuck with your “usual” name. Sure, you can add a title to it, but it is not the same. Even though names are usually irrelevant and have no impact on the game, some players really do want a name change. Maybe they are streamers and want their names to match their streamer ID, or maybe the original name is somewhat inappropriate and they want to avoid unpleasant situations. Whatever the case, Nexon has their back as in a recent X post, they confirmed that an Account Name Change option is coming to The First Descendant.
You Can Change Your The First Descendant Account Name Starting October 30
On October 24, Nexon posted an announcement primarily dealing with the new Primary Account Setup function. Near the end, there is a short disclaimer about the upcoming name change option.
In addition, previously your platform nickname was automatically set as your account name for The First Descendant and could not be changed, but from Wednesday, October 30th, you will be able to rename your account using the ‘Rename Game Account’ service on our official website.
This is great news for all those who want to change their in-game name. Additionally, this will also allow players who formed unofficial “guilds” to show off their allegiance (until we get the official ones). Some players already have funny ideas to change their names to match their titles (can’t wait to see Nightmare Nightmare Nightmare Nightmare). Some players questioned whether the name change would be free or if we would have to pay. While there is no official info on that, the majority agrees that the first change at least will definitely be free. That’s how most online games with similar options function.
The October 30 update is getting closer, and Nexon promised to add the Reactor Implant feature and improve the Resource Defense missions, among other minor changes. There is no word on what happens after October 30, as Season 2 is scheduled for early December, so it may very well be that this will be the last major update before Season 2.
