Wondering how many maps there are in Texas Chain Saw Massacre? We have your answer here. Read on to learn more about different locations, exits, and all the details in between.
Gun Interactive’s Texas Chain Saw Massacre brings the characters and setting of the 1974 horror flick back to the big screen. A variety of playable maps are on offer, reflecting familiar locations from the original film. Each map is broken down into a number of accessible areas where you can find useful items, resources, and four escape points throughout. However, each layout is also riddled with all manner of bone traps and tricky locks. Whether you aim to escape or take a shortcut to reach a fleeing Victim, knowing the terrain is crucial. Let’s break down each layout in TCM.
How Many Maps Are There in Texas Chain Saw Massacre?
There are three unique maps in Texas Chain Saw Massacre: the Family House, the Slaughterhouse, and the Gas Station. While each sports a wildly different layout with a variety of accessible areas, all exits remain the same, including a pressure valve exit, fusebox exit, road exit, and rear gate exit.
This does help to simplify the unfamiliar locations, but you’ll also need to account for varying levels of visibility, adding a bit more nuance to your gameplay strategy. Maps are randomly assigned when you enter a match, which can take place at any time of day. Depending on the available light, it might be harder or easier to hide, no matter your role as a Victim or Family member. For instance, nighttime layouts might provide more coverage to sneak around, but you’ll also need to exercise caution when turning lights on or off. Otherwise, you might risk disclosing your location to your opponents.
Family House Map
The Family House is undoubtedly the most iconic location from the original film on which Gun’s Texas Chain Saw Massacre is based. In this location, you’ll stumble upon Leatherface’s Lair, which is coated in a blood red paint and strung out with a variety of meat cuts. The notorious slasher does sport a bit of a home field advantage here, but there are plenty of tools and other resources available to Victims.
As a survivor, you’ll awake in the basement, which you must first escape before you can plan your attempted exit from the map. Here are the most notable areas from the Family House map.
- Basement
- Back Porch
- Back Garden
- Car Graveyard
Gas Station Map
Horror fanatics will also recognize the Gas Station in TCM. Equipped with a Smokeroom, this location is generally the Cook’s domain, where he cooks up some mean barbecue. While the layout is relatively uncomplicated in comparison to the Family House, its exterior can be tough for most Family members to navigate without the ability to crouch or squeeze through tight places. Because of this, Sissy and the Hitchhiker perform well in this location. Here are the Gas Station’s highlights.
- Compound
- Exterior
- Smokeroom
Slaughterhouse Map
The Slaughterhouse map is the most industrialized of the bunch in TCM. Similar to the Gas Station, this layout can be particularly challenging for most Family members to navigate, as popular picks like Leatherface and Johnny can’t crouch or squeeze through tight spots as their Victims can. Again, Sissy and the Hitchhiker will do well here, so be sure to change your character for an advantage. These are some of the most important areas to reach in the Slaughterhouse map.
- Cattle Chute
- Loading Dock
- Back Slaughter Area
We’ll likely see additional maps added to TCM in the future. For now, it’s essential to familiarize yourself with each of the above layouts and their highlights to determine your best escape route or course of action. Play with friends to put your heads together and formulate a strong game plan.
