Victims have a tough role to play in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Tasked with escaping locations crawling with murderous maniacs, your path to safety isn’t so cut and dry. Despite the circumstances, none of the Victims in Texas Chain Saw Massacre are an absolute nightmare to main. With that being said, the diversity of their signature abilities places some above others, with Ana and Connie earning the top spot. These ladies stand out among the other survivors thanks to their grade-A skills. Not to mention, their overall competence can cause a lot of trouble for Family members.

Even so, no Victim is perfect. Even these final girls have flaws, just as the remaining survivors do. Let’s break down the pros and cons when it comes to playing as each of the Slaughter Family’s victims.

Ana’s Pros & Cons

The Good

  • Ana is the closest thing to a main character in Gun Interactive’s game rendition of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. As a compassionate nod to Maria Flores, the victim of the true events which inspired the horror franchise, Ana boasts an all-around impressive build. Her attributes are pretty evenly distributed, allowing her to perform well under most circumstances. What’s more, her ability Pain is Nothing grants her an innate Toughness buff with an added resistance to poison, binding the devious Sissy’s green thumb.

The Bad

  • While Ana’s attributes are divided fairly equally, her lesser Proficiency and Stealth scores can cause problems in a pinch. Her exceptional Toughness may be able to save her from an encounter with the Family when she’s caught picking a lock, but for how long? We’ll chock this one up to individual preference.

Connie’s Pros & Cons

The Good

  • This isn’t Connie’s first rodeo. Having grown up on a farm, she’s learned the ins and outs of rural living. As a result, Connie sports incredible Proficiency and Stealth ratings with decent Endurance to boot. This allows her sneak past Family members and pick locks with ease and precision, doubly helped by her Focused ability. She can save an unlock tool with this skill, but it will come at the cost of her Stamina and Family proximity warnings.

The Bad

  • Resourcefulness aside, Connie is bound to buckle in an altercation with Family members. There’s a chance that her average Endurance could save her before an attack lands. However, she may not survive a direct hit due to her wanting Toughness and Strength scores.

Sonny’s Pros & Cons

The Good

  • Above all else, Sonny is an intellectual who’s capable of brainstorming the best possible escape. This is reflected in his decent Proficiency stat. Although his Endurance and Strength are ultimately what saves him, he also comes equipped with exceptional situational awareness, thanks to his Heightened Sense ability. Like the Cook, Sonny has an excellent sense of hearing. Because of this, he knows exactly when and where to run, putting his Stamina to the test.

The Bad

  • Sonny simply can’t take what he dishes out. While he can pack a heavy-handed punch with impressive Strength, his Toughness and Stealth are seriously lacking. This means he’ll incur more damage than other survivors in the event that he’s caught off guard. To escape, his best bet is to leverage his ability and avoid the Family altogether.

Leland’s Pros & Cons

The Good

  • Leland’s wrestling career might have peaked in high school, but he retains this skill with an exceptional Strength stat. Coupled with impressive Endurance, this guy is capable of fighting off the Slaughter Family with no problem, proving to be a real life-saver on a team. No, seriously — his aptly named Life Saver ability allows him to stun his opponents with an all-out shove, temporarily saving himself and his teammates from harm.

The Bad

  • Although his ability comes in handy, Leland is forced to rely on his Strength just to get by. With little to show in terms of Stealth, getting caught by the Family is essentially a given. Not to mention, in the event that his ability fails, Leland’s lesser Toughness score could spell the end for him.

Julie’s Pros & Cons

The Good

  • Julie is a sporty Cali girl with excellent Endurance and Stealth as a result of her lifestyle. She’s also got a decent Toughness score. In all, this is reflected in her ability, Ultimate Escape. At the hefty cost of her hard-earned Stamina, she can very literally make a run for it in an all-out sprint to the nearest escape point, all the while undetected by the Family. Unfortunately, the pros end there.

The Bad

  • I was rooting for Julie. However, her lacking Proficiency and Strength make it difficult to fight off Family members when her Stealth and ability come up short. To be clear, Julie isn’t helpless by any means, and perks can help optimize her build. All things considered, though, her best survival strategy relies on sneaking out of harm’s way.

In the end, it seems unfair to rank the Slaughter Family’s best victims in Texas Chain Saw Massacre. United with the same goal in mind, survivors are best helped when you team up with friends. This way, Victim builds are complemented by making up for one’s weakness with your own strength in TCM.
