Is Street Fighter 6 Multiplayer?

Two Street Fighter 6 characters face off on a battle stage

Street Fighter 6 is the latest installment to the iconic fighting game franchise, and it’s set to launch later this week. The new title will introduce a handful of new fighters and battle stages to take on your opponents, as well as a newly revised battle system.

In keeping with the franchise’s beginnings as a widely popularized arcade game, Street Fighter 6 will deliver a new-and-improved gameplay experience without sacrificing the elements that made the title a leader in its genre. Although, this begs the question: Will Street Fighter 6 have multiplayer?

You can count on it. Let’s dive into the details regarding multiplayer modes and potential co-op options in Street Fighter 6.

  • In-Game Commentating: Street Fighter’s first-ever Real-Time Commentary Feature, supported with subtitles in 13 languages, incorporates the voices of popular Fighting Game Community (FGC) commentators like Vicious and Aru directly into the game to narrate what is happening on-screen just like a real tournament.

Can You Play with Friends in SF6?

Simply put, yes, you can absolutely play with friends in Street Fighter 6. In fact, the new title is optimized to encourage PvP with online, split-screen, and cross-platform capabilities. This is outlined on Steam, just one compatible platform to play the highly anticipated fighting game.

However, you can also opt to go solo in single-player mode if you’d rather not face off against friends in multiplayer.

Is SF6 Couch Co-op?

Unfortunately, no, Street Fighter 6 will not support couch co-op. This means you won’t be able to play alongside friends or siblings on the same console, which deviates quite a bit from the title’s arcade roots.

Despite this, there are plenty of multiplayer options to choose from, including cross-platform. While couch-co-op would serve the gameplay experience well, you’ll still be able to play Street Fighter 6 with other players no matter the system they main.

Is SF6 Co-op?

Yes, Street Fighter 6 will support local co-op. However, those who wish to play online will instead have a PvP experience. There’s a distinct difference between the two modes, as local co-op will allow you to make progress in the story alongside friends while online PvP pits you against other players in combat.

It seems that the new installment to the long-standing fighting game franchise will deliver in all departments. Not only that, but Street Fighter 6 will also breathe some life into the series with all-new characters, battle stages, and an improved fighting system.
