All Graphics Modes in Stellar Blade, Explained

Stellar Blade

As is expected from an AAA game, Stellar Blade offers players a selection of graphics modes, with a balance between performance and visuals. The game takes players across post-apocalyptic Earth, full of ruined cities, lush vegetation, and industrial complexes. These are all impressive visuals, but the main focus of the game is on fighting various alien monsters, and for that, FPS is more important than nice-looking textures.

Luckily, the game has three graphics and performance modes that players can easily switch between. Moreover, all the modes in the game are a slightly different version from the one in the demo. This means that everybody who tested the game should be familiar with them. Below you will find an explanation for all graphics modes, along with the best mode to use for the game.

All Graphics Modes You Can Select in Stellar Blade

Stellar Blade has three graphics modes that each offer a balance between FPS and resolution.  Despite being powered by an older Unreal Engine 4, Stellar Blades’ graphic modes deliver a consistent frame rate and good video quality. In-game graphics look breathtaking in 4K modes, and players can easily switch between all graphic modes using the Options menu. The following are the graphic options you can select for Stellar Blade on PS5:

  • Performance: Targets 1440p (2k) resolution, with a 60 FPS target.
  • Balanced: Upscales the image to 2160p (4K), with a 60 FPS target.
  • Resolution: Targets a 2160p resolution (4K), with a 30 FPS target.

What is the best graphics mode to play Stellar Blade?

Although the game can be enjoyed in all three graphic modes, we recommend using the Balanced mode. Having 60 FPS is very important in games focused on fighting. This holds especially true in those fights that are about timing the parries and dodging. On the other hand, the difference between natural 4K and upscaled is almost unnoticeable in Stellar Blade and is not worth sacrificing FPS for.
