Before you can throw your lightsaber in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, you must unlock the ability. This is done through the skill tree while resting at Meditation Points. You will need the necessary skills points before you can do this. The lightsaber throw is an effective ranged attacked and useful for destroying objects.
Throwing your lightsaber in Jedi Survivor is a simple yet effective technique that can be used in various combat situations, but allows Cal to attack at range. On Xbox, this is performed by holding down LB and then pressing Y. On PS5, this is done by holding down L1 and pressing Triangle.
