How To Remove Crime Stat in Star Citizen

A promotional ship for Invictus launch week in Star Citizen.

They say crime doesn’t pay, and that can sometimes turn out to be the case in Star Citizen. Living life as a spacefaring pirate can be fun, but players may find themselves wanting to go back to normal gameplay, not being shot at on sight by many NPCs. To do so, players will have to remove their Crime Stat to return to everyday life.

Removing a player’s Crime Stat isn’t the easiest task in the world, requiring some prep work, as well as the willingness for players to put themselves in danger. This guide will go over the entire process of removing one’s Crime Stat so that even the most dangerous of pirates can someday find redemption.

How Do You Remove Your Crime Stat in Star Citizen?

Players must go through the following steps to remove their Crime Stat:

  • Obtain a Tigersclaw Key
  • Head to a location with an Imperial Criminal Database terminal, such as Security Post Kareah
  • Head towards the center console. Security Systems will be active, so players should take caution when traveling to these locations.
  • Equip the Tigersclaw key and insert it into the lower part of the console
  • Defend the terminal as the Tigersclaw key begins its process, interacting with the terminal when necessary to continue the hack
  • Start removing crimes from the database. For players with a long list of crimes, this may take a while.

It is worth noting that players may have to contest with other players, not just automated defenses when purging their crimes. When a player begins to hack the crime database a ping goes out alerting players in the area. Players in the system can accept a mission to hunt down those purging their crimes, meaning anyone attempting to remove their Crime Stat should be ready for PvP combat.

How Do You Get a Tigersclaw Key in Star Citizen?

Tigersclaw Keys can be found in loot containers throughout the game, and are very often found in loot containers inside bunkers. For those who haven’t found a Tigersclaw Key before they can also be purchased at the Grim Hex pirate hub by Quantum Traveling to the asteroid belt near Yela. There is no limit to the number of Tigersclaw Keys a player can carry, so it is worth it to buy multiple in case players feel that they may get up to more illegal activities in the future.

The task may seem difficult, but the payoff is worth it. Many stations won’t allow players with notable crimes access at all, meaning a good amount of content is cut off from the player. Removing the Crime Stat gives players a completely clean slate, with no further repercussions. Besides, the method is always repeatable, and jail is escapable, so players are free to live their best star pirate lives, as long as they aren’t scared of completing this task.
