It’s often tough being on the front lines, and games are no exception. Anyone who’s ever played a “tank” role can relate to this, whether in an MMO, team shooter, or anywhere else. In Space Marine 2, a couple of classes can be ranked as frontliners, those who meet the enemies of humanity head-on and protect the battle brothers behind them. We should never forget to be thankful for their service when they’re doing their job right.
SM2 Community thanks their front-line protectors
Players who choose to get into the thick of things and protect their allies should always be commended. Whether in PVE or PVP, those who do well in their role can create a lot of space for others to shine. There are plenty of bad examples, which is only further proof that we should praise those who do it right. Dirtyoldsocklife on Reddit has done just den, penning a thread that gives thanks to all those who allow them to safely do their duty.
“I feel it needs to be said, just in case you haven’t heard it yet, but you crazy ass mofos holding the front are absolutely f***n mint. You put your bodies and suits on the line to clear the hordes, risking grievous injury and death at the hands of the unclean, and you do it with a smile. I’ll always do my best to clear the way for you through the ads, so that you may proceed with the holy ass-kicking of those majoris mothers, but sometimes I need the clearing, and I’ll be goddamned if you don’t pull that duty too.”
The three distinct frontline classes in Space Marine 2 – Bulwark, Assault, and Vanguard, all got a mention and praise. It was wonderful to read through the outpouring of positivity, and the community responded in kind, with encouragement from both sides. We urge you to read through the whole post and the thread. This should inspire everyone to perform their task for the Emperor and their brothers in arms.
For instance, RookieCi has responded from the viewpoint of a Bulwark player: “Brother, your words, as a bulwark, are not only appreciated but empowering. We have a duty, and we shall throw ourselves into the fray, knowing full well that not a single alien, mutant, or heretic will reach our flank, for it is guarded by those we trust most. Scouts, heavies, tacticals, keep delivering righteous fury through lead! Trust this humble son of Vulkan to be the impenetrable wall he was meant to be. And if you fall, know that the glory of slaughter awaits those who dare lay a finger on you, for you will not be left behind.”
Others weren’t too far behind, with comments like: “What a f***g badass bro, I fight for the Emperor sure, but I fight harder for my boys. Written like a true poet… I’ll always have my Heavy’s back.” and “I feel like this a Rock and Stone moment!”, referring to another wholesome community, namely Deep Rock Galactic.
Let’s hope that this attitude and awareness spreads through the community and that we can share more stories like this in the future. Until then, we can all become part of the solution and follow the above examples.
