Space Marine 2 is all about teamwork and coordinating with your teammates (or “Battle Brothers” if you please). With various classes that you have in the game, each of you can take on a role, and with the right coordination, you can easily blast through anything, be it an alien, a mutant, or a heretic. However, as the betrayal at Istvaan III taught us, the enemy may be among us, posing as our friend. Unfortunately, this is also true (in a way) in the game, as more and more players report treacherous behavior (or at least very selfish) and a lack of teamplay in Threat: Lethal Operations of Space Marine 2.
Highest Difficulty Operations in Space Marine 2 Lack Teamplay
When you choose to play Operations in Space Marine 2, you get to choose the difficulty. It is called Threat levels in the game, and they are (arranged from easiest to hardest): Minimal, Average, Substantial, Ruthless, and Lethal. For Lethal missions, the recommended Level is 25, the enemies are ruthless, drops are reduced, and the players have to rely on finishers to heal.
One player, named Ok_Pomegranate46, posted on Reddit how they noticed a certain behavior with “randoms” in Lethal Operations. “Attempting lethal with randoms taught me one thing. Fear not the Xeno. Fear not the heretic. Fear your battle brothers. The amount of people greeding for executions while full HP/armored is insane.” They continue saying how some players would rather “kill steal” your Majoris enemies, instead of letting you execute them, even when on full health.
More and More Players Report Seeing Horrible Teammates
It didn’t take long for others to join in and add their own experiences with “treacherous” Battle Brothers. “This is a problem not just for Lethal, sadly. The sheer amount of people who get into my fights and then steal my kill is astounding. I have never met so many people with this incredible ability to quickly spam E,” said callmeRosso, adding how some players would swoop in from nowhere to steal executions from obviously wounded teammates, who desperately need the heal.
Another user, named trizorex, has a similar experience. “I had this one situation where I was taking such heavy damage and needed to execute this one Warrior to at least recover what I could. Then this one [smartguy] with ARMOR decided to take it for himself.“
The teamplay issue is real and it could damage the community in the long run. “The execution greed in this community is insane,” said Sr_Harmbe. Unfortunately, there is nothing that we as players can directly do. However, as one player said: “Community lacks team play big time. Everyone is the main character without thinking of others in a co-op experience. It sucks tbh & is very frustrating. I recommend joining the Discord or finding some battle brothers here to run operations with.” So, finding your own squad, be it though play or via social networks seems to be the way to go.
