Legend of Zelda shrine in Tears of the Kingdom

Fans of the series are buzzing with excitement as the release of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom inches closer. As the latest addition to the beloved franchise, there are bound to be questions and speculations on what the new game will bring. One question in mind is whether shrines will make a comeback in this new installment.

In this article, we’ll explore the evidence, rumors, and possibilities surrounding the inclusion of shrines in the upcoming game.

Will Tears of the Kingdom Have Shrines?

Shrines were a huge part of the previous game and their absence in Tears of the Kingdom trailers has sparked some interesting theories. Shrines in Breath of the Wild were Sheikah technology, which played a major role throughout the game. This is important to remember because in the trailers for Tears of the Kingdom, there seems to be little to no presence of Sheikah technology. This suggests that shrines may just be a thing of the past.

Additionally, the shrines existed as a form of trial for Link, the Champion of Hyrule. This has many fans believing that after having completed every trial available in Hyrule, Link has already transcended the concept of Shrines as they were in Breath of the Wild. This does not mean that we won’t see anything similar to Shrines in Tears of the Kingdom, just that it will most likely look very different from the shrines we’re used to.

The Sky Islands in Tears of the Kingdom could be this new type of shrine. This could also be the means for Link to move from the ground to the sky, providing a new gaming experience for fans. It is, of course, important to note that this is just speculation and has not been confirmed. So, it should be taken with a grain of salt.
