REPO is quickly taking over the gaming world. We didn’t know that we needed this blend of horror and goofiness. And just now, the devs released a second Q&A video, revealing some interesting stuff about REPO
Released in February 2025, REPO quickly rose to prominence as one of the silliest co-op games currently available, especially in the lower price range. Creating something so simple and yet so engaging is truly a great feat.
The Second REPO Q&A Video Breakdown
R.E.P.O. is still in Early Access, but players already have a ton of questions about the game and its future. The devs, Semiwork, already held one Q&A session, but naturally, it was far from enough, so after compiling fan questions and turning them into a fun video, the developers finally released the second Q&A video.
You can find the questions and answers below.
Q: Will there be new types of valuables or items with gimmicks?
A: “Yes, of course! Our small team is, as we speak, working hard on new valuables and items that you will find in the upcoming new level, and these items will, of course, have some fun gimmicks and things that will happen to you after you gram them.”
Q: Are there any scrapped concepts or ideas that you’d like to share?
A: “Most of what ‘Project Clean’ was (the game version that R.E.P.O. was before it became R.E.P.O.) is scrapped ideas…There was a glove system, and traps that would trigger a TV or a Radio, or something else that would scare you. A lot of that was been reworked into R.E.P.O., so, in a way, we haven’t really scrapped anything, we have reworked it.”
Q: What inspired the game name “R.E.P.O.”?
A: “Some temporary names that we had were ‘Tax Night’ and ‘Repossession’ and somewhere along that route it became R.E.P.O., which stands for ‘Retrieve, Extract & Profit Operation’”
Q: What will be included in the first update?
A: “The first update will include the long-awaited matchmaking, with Server Password, Region Picker, Server List, and Kick option. It will also come with a brand new map, brand new valuables, new and improved weapons, and a more interesting late-game experience, with the new ‘Overcharge’ mechanic, as well as balancing. Also, ‘Explessions’ are coming: Angry, Sad, Unimpressed, Very Much Unimpressed, and more.
Q: Will there be any additional mechanics, like “Overcharge”?
A: “There are no current plans to make any more mechanics like Overcharge, but we are always looking for things to make, like a fun twist on the game, so maybe along the way…never say never!”
Q: Do you have any ideas/plans to collaborate with other games? Are you open to it?
A: “Currently, we are way too swamped with stuff; we have an update to do. But it would be so fun to do collaborations in the future. It is something we are keeping an eye on.”
Q: Will R.E.P.O. have an ending ot a story conclusion?
A: “As of right now, REPO will not have like a traditional story conclusion, as we are focusing mainly on delivering the story through the environment. We want the player to find out what happened in this weird, crazy world by exploring the environment and the levels and finding hidden clues and hints around.”
Q: Will monsters get variants?
A: “We have some ideas of harder versions of monsters showing up at later levels, but it is not something we are currently working on.”
Q: Will you add late join functionality?
A: ”Possibly, but the game is not built for this, so it would be a big rework. Being able to only join in the lobby is also a good security approach for hackers or other players that want ot ruin the game.”
Q: What is your stance on Mods?
A: “We encourage mods! It is so fun to see people add their own personality to our game.”
Q: Is there any chance of seeing vertical maps with platforming?
A: “We already have quite a lot of verticality in the game, especially in larger levels as areas get taller and weirder with some platforming and perhaps even parkour needed. Our upcoming Museum level will require quite a lot of platforming.”
Q: Will there be Cart upgrades?
A: “We’ve talked about cart upgrades and things you can attach to your cart, but nothing is set in stone yet, but it would be fun.”
Q: Will existing locations get new rooms/features?
A: “Yes, we want to add fun interactions that are special and unique to every level, so yeah, we will update older levels with new stuff.”
Part 2 of this second REPO Q&A is scheduled for text Friday, a week from now, and we are already looking forward to it.
