“It’s a Blatant F**k You,” Pros Angry Over CDL Streaming Change Rumors

two skins from the Call of Duty League launch pack. They hold weapons.

OpTic Ghosty, Hecz, Methodz, and Scump spoke on Call of Duty League (CDL) making a huge change from their current streaming platform. More specifically, how everything will change for the pros if CDL leaves Twitch for YouTube Exclusivity.

As everyone knows, Twitch normally doesn’t take kindly to people streaming YouTube-only content streamers. Added to this is the issue that pros who signed exclusivity with Twitch won’t be able to stream YouTube-exclusive content.

Essentially, the majority of the watch parties would come to an end. While these are rumors, Optic seems to think it could be more than gossip.

CDL Leaving Twitch for YouTube?

Dexerto originally reported on CDL’s plans to switch from Twitch to YouTube. This immediately got traction among pros, and even DotEsports called it “another misstep.”

OpTic gaming discussed the possibility again on their Optic Audio Network podcast. After addressing the possible switch from Twitch to YouTube, Hecz said it made him angry.

Hecz spoke about how the CDL was gaining popularity thanks to the pros having watch parties and bringing more attention to it. To switch to YouTube without speaking to the teams was disrespectful.

To quote Hecz:

“This one actually really pisses me off… they didn’t even give us a chance. They gave us a taste; it’s growing, good things are coming from the watch party, other watch parties. It’s growing for the first time in forever, and if they pull the rug now, it is a blatant—it’s a blatant f**k you.”

Scump agreed, stating it was a “big f**k you.”

The issue is that while YouTube may bring in more money to CDL, Optic believes the viewership will go down again.

The conversation starts at 26:07.

If the rumors are true, then it’s clear that many who supported CDL and helped it grow in viewership are not too happy with the sudden change. The issue is exclusivity, which doesn’t support pros who choose to go with platforms outside of YouTube.
