Items in Pokemon Unite have the potential to entirely change the tide of battle. There are two types of items in the game, those being held items and battle items. Held items give passive benefits to your Pokemon, and are placed in your Pokemon’s item slots. While the match starts with only one, progressing through the match unlocks two more.
The second type of items, battle items, take the form of activated abilities and give situational benefits to your playable Pokemon. These can range from a short burst of speed to recovering a set amount or percentage of health. While there are three different ways of getting held items, there’s only one way of getting battle items. This guide will explore all options at your disposal.
How to Get Held Items in Pokemon Unite
The only item players will have at the start of the game will be ‘leftovers’. Players will have to acquire all other items by using one of the methods listed below.

Method 1: Purchasing Them From the Store
The first and most frequent method when it comes to getting held items in Pokemon Unite is simply purchasing them from the store. Although they’re all available to purchase, each item costs 1000 Aeos Coins or 625 Aeos Tickets.
While this is the most used method, it isn’t the recommended method because of the high amount of currency you’ll have to use to unlock every item.
Method 2: Completing Challenges
Various challenges often give players items for completing them. From daily missions to event missions, all of them can potentially carry held item rewards. This method is better than simply buying them because, well, you don’t have to spend anything.
Daily challenges rewarding players with held items are especially common, because of which we recommend you check them every day. If you’re lucky enough to get one that rewards a held item, we suggest you prioritize completing it.
Method 3: Grinding the Seasonal Battle Pass
The final way of getting held items is by grinding the Seasonal Battle Pass that gets reset at the start of every new season. These Battle Passes often include held items as rewards for reaching specific tiers.
Moreover, grinding the Battle Pass couldn’t possibly be any simpler. You just have to keep playing matches to progress through the ranks. Of course, winning gives more experience than losing, so always aim to win.
How to Get Battle Items in Pokemon Unite
The only way to unlock battle items is by playing matches and completing missions/challenges to raise your player level. Specific levels unlock different battle items, with there being eight in total.
Battle Item | Required Player Level |
---|---|
Potion | Level 3 |
X attack | Level 7 |
X speed | Level 8 |
Fluffy Tail | Level 10 |
Eject Button | Level 11 |
Slow Smoke | Level 13 |
