Following the launch of The Teal Mask, Pokémon fans are now wondering: Who is Bloodmoon Ursaluna in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet? We’ll cover all the details about this potential new Pokémon right here.
Less than two weeks before the September 13 launch of The Teal Mask DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violeth, a credible leaker revealed a new form for the Pokémon Ursaluna. The Normal/Ground-type made its debut in the 2022 release, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, in which we were taken back to an ancient Sinnoh region called Hisui. Ursaluna was just one of the enraged Alpha Pokémon the player was tasked with quelling. In light of the new main series timeline reflected in The Teal Mask, however, the beast has been resurrected. Here’s what you need to know about the new form and how to catch it.
- Only one code for a Hisuian Zoroark can be used in either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
- The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.
Who is Bloodmoon Ursaluna in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC?
Bloodmoon Ursaluna is a new Ursaluna form, which is now confirmed to appear in the Teal Mask expansion for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The resurrected Pokémon sports a blood-red emblem on its forehead, similar to the yellow moon shape on the Legends: Arceus Alpha, Ursaluna.
The Peat Pokémon made its way to the Kitakami region by sea. It managed to survive, though this led to a change in its left eye’s appearance and mud-related abilities. This is reflected in its Mind’s Eye ability, which neutralizes changes to evasiveness and allows it to land Normal and Fighting-type moves against Ghost-type Pokémon.
How to Get Bloodmoon Ursaluna in The Teal Mask
To obtain Bloodmoon Ursaluna, you’ll first need to register at least 150 Pokémon in your Kitakami Pokédex. Once you’ve managed to complete the task at hand, speak to Perrin in Mossui Town. She hangs out with her Hisuian Growlithe by the entrance to Apple Hills.
When you fill her in on your endeavors, she’ll challenge you to a battle. Of course, she photographs the match. Upon defeat, she’ll tell the story of Ursaluna, the Bloodmoon Beast. She claims this monster resides in Timeless Woods, northeast of Oni Mountain.
If you’ve got the guts to meet her there following this scary story, she’ll then ask you to take pictures of 10 Pokémon in the Timeless Woods at night. This is simple enough to accomplish. Satisfied with your work, she’ll let you know where you can find the Bloodmoon Beast. She’ll accompany you on the trip.
Bloodmoon Ursaluna soon appears. You’ll need to battle the Pokémon as though you would one of Paldea’s Titans or Tera Pokémon in Raids. This means depleting its health bar, at which point your catch is secured. The monster retains its Normal/Ground typing, so your best partners will be Water, Grass, Ice, and Fighting-type Pokémon.
Bloodmoon Ursaluna Leaks
Prior to the launch of The Teal Mask DLC, leaks revealed Bloodmoon Ursaluna’s arrival. In a series of X (formerly Twitter) posts, user @CentroLeaks revealed a plethora of information about the new monster, from its Pokédex information to its ability and how to obtain it.
Moreover, @CentroLeaks stated Bloodmoon Ursaluna cannot evolve from Ursaring, the original evolution of the Pokémon, Teddiursa.
