Wondering how to get Munkidori in the Teal Mask DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet? No problem. We’ll fill you in with where you can find and catch the new Pokémon as well as what you’ll need to do to obtain it.
The Teal Mask DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is finally available on September 13. In the expansion, you can now travel to the land of Kitakami, where you’ll first arrive in Mossui Town. Here, you’ll meet two exchange students from the Unova region, Carmine and Kieran. As you set out on your new journey, you’ll learn all about the Pokémon that call the land home, including a new Legendary trio referred to as the Loyal Three. These Pokémon are commemorated by the people of Kitakami in stone statues. Once you complete the main story in the expansion, you’ll have a chance to catch Munkidori, Fezandipiti, and Okidogi. Here’s how to start by catching Munkidori.
- Only one code for a Hisuian Zoroark can be used in either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
- The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.
How to Get Munkidori in The Teal Mask DLC
Munkidori is a new Psychic/Poison-type Legendary Pokémon that you’ll first encounter as a Titan in The Teal Mask. That said, you can’t catch the Pokémon in its Titanic form. Once you and Carmine defeat it during the main story, it will run away. However, you can return to the same location you first encountered the Legendary Pokémon and catch it once you’ve completed the events of the DLC. Just be prepared for a tough rematch.
Munkidori Location in The Teal Mask
To find Munkidori, open your map with the Y button on your Nintendo Switch and look for its location, which is marked with an image of the Pokémon. It will appear by the Wisteria Pond in Wistful Fields, providing you with two opportunities to encounter it. Simply set a destination point and head out on your quest to find the Pokémon.
Unlike other wild encounters, Munkidori won’t chase you down for a fight. Instead, you’ll need to approach the Pokémon and press A to challenge it.
How to Catch Munkidori in The Teal Mask
Because Munkidori is a Legendary Pokémon, you’ll want to use Poké Balls with higher catch rates. Starting off with Quick Balls is a great tactic to use here. If this fails, opt for Ultra Balls to help secure a catch while you face off against the new Legendary.
Munkidori is a Psychic/Poison-type. This means Ghost, Dark, and Ground moves will help you land super-effective hits, while Fighting, Poison, Fairy, and Grass will deal little damage. That said, the Pokémon boasts an excellent Special Attack stat at 130, with decent Special Defense and Speed. It also knows tricky moves, including Nasty Plot, Sludge Wave, Psychic, and Future Sight. In the worst-case scenario, Munkidori will boost its Special Attack and pack devastating blows.
To deal the most damage, you’ll want to send out your best physical attacker, ideally with a type advantage. This will help you target Munkidori’s lacking physical Defense and withstand its attacks. Some great partners for this battle include Kingambit, Krookodile, Ceruledge, and Umbreon. If you’ve redeemed your code to obtain your Hisuian Zoroark with the launch of the DLC, then this Pokémon might prove helpful as well.
