Wondering how to get Meloetta in the Indigo Disk DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet? We’ve got you covered. Stick around for a step-by-step guide on how to find this Mythical Pokémon and catch it.

With the drop of the Indigo Disk DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, a host of Mythical and Legendary Pokémon have returned the base games for players to catch and add to their Pokédex. While most of these powerful monsters can be encountered using straightforward methods, Gen V’s Meloetta requires rather specific conditions to be met before you’re able to spot it. Fortunately, this process runs smoothly once you know what to do. Here’s an outline of the steps you need to take to find and catch Meloetta in the Indigo Disk DLC.

Pokémon Scarlet/Pokémon Violet Expansion Pass: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero (Retail Version) Standard – Nintendo Switch [Digital Code]
  • Only one code for a Hisuian Zoroark can be used in either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
  • The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.

How to Find Meloetta in The Indigo Disk DLC

Locating Meloetta in the Indigo Disk DLC is a pretty complicated process, which I wrongfully assumed was a gag to get views when I first saw it covered in a TikTok video. After some first-hand testing, I can assure you it’s the real deal, albeit unorthodox.

That being said, you’ll just need to head over to the Coastal Biome of the Terarium at Blueberry Academy to get started.

You’ll want to set a destination point for a specific area east of the Torchlit Labyrinth, as pictured above. It’s easy to tell if you’re in the right place thanks to the waterfalls flowing close by.

Once you’re there, start searching for a spot where the wind begins to whip around you. Many players have noted that the music will die down as well, but I didn’t notice much of a difference other than the sound of the breeze in my own experience.

This phenomenon does seem to occur in the same location each time, so take a look at the pictures above to help orient yourself. There should be a plant to mark the correct spot.

When the breeze begins to circle you, you’ll need to start twirling, too. You can do this by rotating your Left Joystick in a circle until your character does a pirouette.

Continue spinning for roughly 10 seconds, then release the control. After, quickly open your camera app by pressing down on the D-pad.

Navigate through your camera filters using Right and Left on the D-pad until you find the Sepia setting. Wait just a second and the music will change to a melodic tune. Finally, just rotate your camera until you spot Meloetta swaying with the breeze. Don’t forget to snap a pic if you’d like to commemorate this encounter.

With Meloetta in attendance, close your camera and approach the Mythical Pokémon to enter battle. Smacking straight into it won’t initiate the encounter, so be sure to press A when you’re close enough.

Player catches Meloetta in an Ultra Ball in The Indigo Disk DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

I recommend significantly lowering its health and inflicting some kind of status condition before you start throwing Poké Balls, as Mythical and Legendary Pokémon are notoriously difficult to catch. With this tried-and-true method, I managed to secure my catch after five or six Ultra Balls.

In the end, this will land you a Meloetta to add to your team. For more on the Indigo Disk DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, check out these related guides from our team:
