Fairy-Type Weaknesses in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Fairy-type monsters have just two weaknesses: Poison and Steel. That said, this type tends to have a much harder time fighting off Steel-type Pokémon – at least, in our experience.
This is because Steel-types usually boast a high attack stat, while Fairy-type Pokémon often lack physical defense. Gardevoir is a great example of this pattern with a special defense stat that nearly doubles its physical defense. In turn, this allows physical attackers to pack quite a punch with a type advantage. Of course, there are exceptions to this unwritten rule, as Fairy Pokémon are just as varied as other types.
What is Fairy Super-Effective Against in Scarlet and Violet?
While Fairy-type monsters have just two weaknesses, attacks of this type are super-effective against Dragon, Dark, and Fighting-type Pokémon. This gives them the upper hand against a solid variety of opponents.
At present, there are over 30 Fairy-type moves that you can use to your advantage, many of which are great options for supporting Pokémon in Tera Raid Battles. Not to mention, damaging attacks like Dazzling Gleam and Moonblast can easily wipe out opposing Pokémon, thanks to the fact that Fairy-types are often equipped with an intimidating special attack stat.
What Does Fairy Resist in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
In addition to dealing super-effective attacks against Dragon Pokémon, Fairy-types are also not affected by moves of this formerly overpowered enemy. As such, Fairy monsters take no damage from Dragon-type attacks. Apart from this, Fairy also resists Fighting, Bug, and Dark, taking just 1/4 damage from moves of these types. This is great news for Fairy-type experts and so-so news for their opponents.
Which Types Resist Fairy in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
Fairy-type moves aren’t very effective against Steel, Poison, or Fire-type Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet. This means attacks will only deal 1/4 the amount of damage they typically do, placing users in a bit of a pickle against these types. Fortunately, most Fairy-type Pokémon boast a dual-typing, lending them access to a wide variety of moves.
