State of Play is a live-stream event hosted by Sony, where they announce and show new and upcoming games for their consoles. It is Sony’s most direct way of communicating with their player base and the best place to see all the upcoming games and hardware updates. They are streamed live on all the popular streaming services, like YouTube and Twitch.

The last State of Play we had was on May 30, 2024, and it showcased Concord, God of War Ragnarök, Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Infinity Nikki, Ballad of Antara, Behemoth, Alien: Rogue Incursion, Marvel Rivals, Where Winds Meet, Until Dawn, Path of Exile 2, Silent Hill 2, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Astro Bot.

The next State of Play livestream is expected to be right around the corner, according to Jeff Grubb. When asked whether the event would be coming tomorrow, Jeff replied “This week for sure”. We still don’t know the exact day, but at least we have some guarantee that it’s gonna happen this week.

What to Expect From the Upcoming State of Play?

With all the hubbub concerning PS5 Pro, the next state of play will most surely address all the games that are getting the coveted “PS5 Pro Supported” tag. That represents all the games that are getting updated to make use of all the new technology PS5 Pro has.

Next, we will see reveals of the two PS4 games that are getting remastered for PS5. We already know about Horizon Zero Dawn getting remastered, and the second one is a mystery (even though everything points towards it being Days Gone). Furthermore, we expect to see a lot more news concerning third-party games and PS5 Pro (just like we saw for Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth).

From the PS5 Pro announcement the fan base has been pretty miffed about the whole situation (the high price tag, to be specific), and we hope that Sony has some great news in store for all of us.
