Resident Evil 6 is one of the major (and controversial) installments in the franchise, albeit a bit older. But, some recent ratings suggest that Resident Evil 6 may be getting a PlayStation 5 port in the near future.
RE6 is considered one of the worst Resident Evil titles. The critics claimed it was more of an action-shooter with vague horror moments, than a horror-survival game the whole franchise is famous for being. The fans are adamant that it won’t get a remaster, with a lot of them still bickering about whether RE6 is considered canon or not. But, it looks like it has not been forgotten by Sony.
Resident Evil 6 Just Got the Ratings For the ‘Xbox Series’ Suggesting a PlayStation 5 Port Is on the Way
RE6 was released back in 2012, originally for PS3 and Xbox 360. It was ported for PS4 and Xbox One in 2016, but that didn’t help much with the general opinion of the game. However, it looks like a PS5 port may be on the way.
Resident Evil 6 just got an ESRB rating of M17+ for “Xbox Series”, saying:
“This is a survival-horror game in which players assume the roles of several characters attempting to stop a viral outbreak. From a third-person perspective, players explore environments, solve puzzles, and battle zombies and mutated creatures. Players use pistols, machine guns, knives, and explosives to kill enemies. Combat is highlighted by cries of pain, realistic gunfire, and large blood-splatter effects. Some attacks result in dismemberment and/or decapitation. Cutscenes depict further instances of violence and/or blood and gore: a zombie shot in the head, exposing bits of brain; a zombie stabbed in the head, close-up; characters killed by rotating fan blades and chainsaw-like blades. One mutated female boss is depicted nude, though without any discernible details (i.e., no nipples or genitalia). During the boss battle, this character can be seen caressing her breasts, gyrating and straddling another character. The word “f**k” appears in the game.”
This means that RE6 will get a port for Xbox Series X and S, which are both considered current-gen consoles. PS5 is also a current-gen console, so it is not crazy to assume that a PS5 port is also on the way.
We expect that the game will be updated with better performance, visuals, and similar improvements, like better FPS, ray tracing, and everything else that a modern console may offer. However, the fans had issues with the story itself, so this PS5 port will hardly help in that regard. There were talks about the remake, and porting the game to PS5 may be the first step in making a Resident Evil 6 Remake a reality. But remember that this is only speculation, so take this with a grain of salt.
