No Man’s Sky is a popular sci-fi survival adventure game, released in 2016, that had quite a rocky start. While the initial idea to have an uncountable number of planets where the payers can go to is awesome, the problem was that there are not an uncountable number of things to do, leading to the game being pretty repetitive. Over the years the devs, Hello Games, continuously released free updates that ironed out a lot of wrinkles, and the game is now generally accepted, having a Mostly Positive rating on Steam. With the announcement and the release of PS5 Pro, the developers worked hard to make No Man’s Sky PS5 Pro Enhanced, and admit that it was a very “tough gig”.

No Man’s Sky PS5 Pro Support Looks Great…

Sony released a list of 50+ games that support the PS5 Pro, and No Man’s Sky is one of them. The PS5 Pro was released on November 7, and on the same day, Sean Murray, the founder of Hello Games, posted that the free upgrade for No Man’s Sky is available, to make it playable on PS5 Pro.

“No Man’s Sky PlayStation 5 Pro support,  No Man’s Sky in 8K, PSSR support, Sharper Resolution, Higher Framerates, Improved Lighting, Ultra Quality Reflections, High-Quality Ambient Occlusion, 4K at 60FPS, 8K at 30FPS, Huge Upgrade to PSVR2, We can’t wait for folks to see what is possible in No Man’s Sky on PlayStation 5 Pro,” said Murray.

…But Was Harder Than Expected

Hot on the heels of Sean Murray’s post, the Engine Programmer for No Man’s Sky, Martin Griffiths, added that it was a considerable effort by the team to make the game PS5 Pro Enhanced. “I spent around 4-5 months of my time spread over the last year working on the #PS5Pro support. This was a tough gig since we are one of the smallest teams releasing today and also one of only a handful of games supporting both 4K and 8K, as well as PSVR2. I am immensely proud of playing a part in this release today – hope you all enjoy!”

In a wholesome turn of events, the fans only had words of praise for No Man’s Sky’s PS5 Pro port and the team in general. “You and your team are amazing. Hope your good work pays well and you enjoy doing it” said alexptlx on X, and “Always love seeing the work and effort y’all put into this game! Really cool seeing work from across the team come in together like this.” added bomber_that. User Knightartist86 commented that there is a huge difference between NMS on PS5 and on PS5 Pro: “I started in my completed settlement and it was so much clearer and with smoother performance compared to the OG Ps5. Super happy with it so far.” Truly a great job by the devs.
