Monster Hunter Wilds is the upcoming fifth major installment of the popular Monster Hunter series. Like before, MH Wilds is an action-adventure game where you hunt monsters. The game can be played solo (with AI helpers) or in multiplayer, where you band together to take down the toughest beasts. In Wilds, Capcom also tries to focus on fleshing out the natural ecosystem, the flora and fauna, and have it behave as realistically as possible. It is scheduled to be released in the last days of February 2025. However, we recently had a showcase live stream, where you could see how the development is going and hear what the devs have to say. One of the more important pieces of information is about Open Beta.
Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test Period Announced
On October 23, Capcom held a Monster Hunter Wilds showcase, where you could see gameplay tidbits and some cinematics, with MH Wilds producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto, talking about the game. At the end of the showcase, he mentioned that an Open Beta would go live pretty soon. It will be available on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, and the exact date and time is:
- Friday, November 1, 2024, 3:00am – Monday, November 4, 2024, 2:59am (UTC)
They add that “players who participate in the [Open Beta] will receive a special bonus which can be claimed in the full version of the game.”
PlayStation Plus Members Get Early Open Beta Access
There is a special treat for PS Plus members. If you are subscribed to PS Plus, you can access the exclusive Open Beta even earlier. The exact date and time is:
- Tuesday, October 29, 2024, 3:00am – Thursday, October 31, 2024, 2:59am (UTC)
Open Beta Features
During Open Beta, the content will be somewhat limited. You will be able to go through the full character creation (note that you will be able to transfer your Hunter to the full game upon release, if you like), play the basic tutorial and hunt a Chatacabra (“Get a feel for the weapon mechanics and experience the seamless transitions from cutscenes into gameplay.”), and hunt a Doshaguma Alpha (“Explore the vast locale on your Seikret and switch between two different weapon types on the fly as you experience the latest in hunting action.”).
While the majority will have to wait for more than a week for Open Beta, PS Plus subscribers’ Open Beta period is a couple of days away.
