Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster Is Impressive, Says Digital Foundry

Around the same time when they announced PlayStation 5 Pro, Sony also added that a bunch of remasters of older (mostly PS4) games are on the way. The initial reactions were not too positive, as the fans were already disappointed by the PS5 Pro announcement, and that seeped into the remaster announcements, resulting in fans not being too thrilled, especially since the announced games were Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone.

The majority of fans were a bit surprised by the first one, saying that Horizon Zero Dawn already looks very good and that spending time and resources on remastering it is a bit of a waste. Now, the release date for Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster is getting closer, and it looks like it is far from a “waste.”

Digital Foundry Reviewed Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster

On October 23, Digital Foundry, a popular YouTube review channel, released a video where they talked about the difference between the original Horizon Zero Dawn and the Remaster, and whether you should bother with getting it or not. And the result is quite unexpected.

In the video, DF shows that the Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster looks incredible while going at a steady 60FPS, resulting in some stunning visuals. They continue comparing the environment in the Remaster with the original game, showing just how much more detail the newer version has, especially in the environmental effects, water rendering, and the plant life surrounding you. Furthermore, the lighting in the game is redone to be more realistic. But, the best part is that the characters themselves are way more detailed, both visually, and during conversations. It is said that more than 10 hours of extra footage has been added to character interactions, to replace the old ones, with characters being way more dynamic during speaking, and, well, more “alive”.

The general verdict is that it is more than worth it getting the remaster. If you already have the digital game, the update to the Remaster is only $10, which is next to nothing compared to what you get. Be sure to check out their full video for all he details.
