Higher Tier PlayStation Plus Members Can Claim These 10 Spooky Games For Free

Playstation five game free on PS plus Dredge, Alan Wake 2, Dino Crisis, Doki Doki Literature Club, and Outlast 2

PS Plus members have a lot of perks, and getting some games for free is one of them. If you don’t plan on trick-or-treating or going to a Halloween-themed party, the next best thing is to relax with a spooky game, and PlayStation Plus members can get some cool games for free. If you’re a PS+ subscriber, there are a bunch of games perfect for Halloween that you can get completely for free. The only condition is that you are a PS+ member, with a caveat. Most of the games mentioned require higher tiers of membership (higher than Essential: Extra and Premium). We will note when the game requires a higher tier than Essential. So, without further ado, here are the 10 spooky games that PlayStation Plus subscribers can get for free.

10 Free Games for PlayStation Plus Subscribers of Different Tiers

  • Outlast 2 (PS+ Extra required) – Outlast 2 is an incredibly scary game made by Red Barrels studio. You play as a journalist who finds himself neck-deep in some cult activity. Playing with headphones is recommended only for the most die-hard horror lovers.
  • Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!– Doki Doki is one of the weirdest games out there. It looks like your run-off-the-mill “slice-of-life” anime game, and right after it lulls into a false sense of security (and dating cute anime girls), its dark nature comes to the fore. A must-play for every horror fan.
  • Forbidden Siren (PS+ Premium required) – Siren is a highly disturbing horror survival game, that was originally released on PS2 and has now been updated for PS4 and PS5. You follow several characters whose horrific stories are intertwined over the course of three days, resulting in an overarching plot with cults, monsters, and everything that would make a horror fan happy.
  • Dredge (PS+ Extra required) – Dredge is a highly stylized game, that starts off as a simple fishing game, that grows more and more disturbing the farther (or deeper) you get.
  • Dino Crisis (PS+ Premium required) – This is an old game from PS1, updated to be playable on PS4 and PS5. Dino Crisis will bring you your own Jurassic Park experience, as you try to survive against a variety of prehistoric threats.
  • The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me (PS+ Extra required, free trial available for everyone) – The Devil in Me is an awesome-looking horror game, following a group of documentary filmmakers trapped in a hotel (looking a lot like something out of a Saw movie).
  • Until Dawn (PS+ Extra required) – Until Dawn is like an interactive horror movie, where you follow the story of eight individuals trapped in a mountain lodge, where they have to survive, well, until dawn. Each choice you make can have a greater impact on the story than you’d imagine, and who survives until the end is up to you. One of the better horror games out there.

The following games are free, but only as a limited-time trial.

  • Alan Wake 2 (PS+ Premium required) – The insanely famous Alan Wake 2 was released a year ago and has captured the hearts and minds of all horror lovers. You play as the titular Alan Wake, a tortured writer, or as Saga Anderson, an FBI agent with psychic abilities. The game is praised for its life-like visuals and immersive story. Truly one of the masterpieces of recent gaming history.
  • MADiSON (PS+ Premium required) – Another immersive game for horror enthusiasts, MEDiSON follows Luca and her possessed camera. We all know that horror movies with cameras and a plot of devices are usually great (Polaroid, anyone?), and the same goes for MADiSON. The downside is that it’s just a one-hour trial.
  • Fear the Spotlight (PS+ Premium required) – Fear the Spotlight follows two girls whose High School turns into a nightmare after a failed seance. Fans say that this is a great gateway game for all those just dipping their toes into horror. The saddest part is that it is just a short, half-hour trial.
