“Maybe Too Late?” PlayStation Fans a Bit Puzzled as the PS 5 Pro Reviews and Unboxing Embargo Is to Be Lifted in a Couple of Days

PS5 Pro was first announced in early September. Unfortunately, all the new features and state-of-the-art technology were overshadowed by the steep price tag. After the initial outrage had died down, various dev teams showcased how their games would look on Sony’s newest console. Add the fact that PS6 is still years away, and the players started noticing considerable improvements, both in performance and in visuals. The goal of PS5 Pro is to run the latest games on a constant 60FPS, with visuals in 4k. More and more games announced that they will have the coveted PS5 Pro Enhanced tag, meaning that extra effort has been made to update those games, to allow them to fully make use of everything PS5 Pro’s technology has to offer. As the release date for PS5 Pro is getting closer (November 7), fans expected some official reviews to appear. It turns out, just like for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, there is an embargo for PlayStation 5 Pro reviews and unboxing which is going to be lifted pretty soon.

Just a Few More Days Until PlayStation 5 Pro Reviews and Unboxing Embargo is Lifted, Says Insider

There are a lot of speculations and expectations about PS5 Pro, but we are still lacking official reviews. On that note, on October 31, Tom Henderson, the owner of Insider Gaming, posted on X that PS5 Pro reviews and unboxing are on the way.

“PS5 Pro Unboxings – Nov 4th,

PS5 Pro Reviews – Nov 6th”

The fans are predominantly amazed by the fact that there is a NDA for unboxing. “You mean you have a NDA for unboxing???” asked Alex28591486, and “Wait, so you can’t take it out of the box until the 4th?? We already know what it looks like and it’s specs. That makes zero sense. Lol” added ZoieNolan.

However, the majority is a bit miffed with the review date. The review embargo lifts just a day before the release, which many deem is too late. “Thank God the reviews are just a day before it launches. I can’t wait…” ironically said Reshuken, and “Great now we can’t cancel pre orders if the reviews are bad on this,” pointed out zektic_. This embargo is a common trend nowadays with these controversial releases. It seems that the developers and studios want to avoid any further controversy or negative reviews, and then impose embargos until it is too late, as pointed out in the aforementioned comment. Whatever the case, we’ll see what the reviews have to say in a couple of days.
