CD Projekt Revealed When To Expect the Release The Witcher 4

The Witcher 4’s reveal trailer got everyone by surprise. Showing Ciri in a short but sweet monster hunt, we realized that she’ll be the main protagonist. Knowing how vast and detailed The Witcher games are, people are wondering when can we hope to actually play the next game, when it will be released. Some are hopeful that it will get released next year. Well, to answer all of that, the developers, CD Projekt, revealed when to expect the release of The Witcher 4.

The Witcher series (both books and games) follows the adventures of the titular Witcher, Geralt of Rivia. The first books were published in 1990, while the first video game adaptation was released in 2007, simply titled The Witcher.

A sequel, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, was released in 2011, while The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt (the most successful of them all) was released in 2015. While the series was pretty obscure at first, it rose in popularity when the video games were released, and even more with the recent TV adaptation: Netflix’s The Witcher series. 

It has been about 10 years since the last game, and the recent surge in popularity has everyone wondering when The Witcher 4 will be out. Finally, the devs gave us some answers.

The Developers Revealed When They Expect The Witcher 4 Release

On March 25, CD Projekt released an audio webcast of their fiscal year 2024 earnings conference. In this 40-minute-long video, they mentioned when they expect they’ll release The Witcher 4.

When they talked about the financial targets for the next few years, the devs said: “Even though we do not plan to release The Witcher 4 by the end of 2026, we are still driven by this financial goal…”

So there you have it, official words from CD Projekt. So it will take another two years at the least before we can hope to see The Witcher on the shelves. We know the game will be at least as large as The Witcher 3, so the devs have a lot of work cut out for them. 

The Same Goes for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

While we’re at it, Jason Schreier, a famous video game reporter from Bloomberg, mentioned that the same goes for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. When confronted that he said that these two games will be released somewhere in 2026, he replied: “I’m pretty sure I said they were both going to be very early teases. Neither of those games will be out next year.”

So, it is going to be a while before we get to see these two games.
