A New God of War Title Will Be Announced Soon, Claims Insider

PlayStation God of War Kratod and Atreius with a "New God of War??" text

God of War is an incredibly popular franchise, with millions of players following Kratos on his adventures in worlds inspired by both Greek and Norse mythology. The games are divided into “eras”, with the first era being titles inspired by Greek mythology, and the second era being titles inspired by Norse mythology. The last major one was God of War Ragnarok, released in 2022, and the devs mentioned that it is the last game in the second era. Other mythologies exist in the world of God of War and players everywhere speculate on which ones will be next. Cory Barlog, the creative director of Santa Monica Studio, said that “after the Norse era of God of War, future games could see the series tackling either Egyptian or Maya mythology”. And now, according the a trusted insider, it looks like a new God of War title will be announced at either TGA or an anticipated Sony Showcase Event.

Insider Claims That a New God of War Game Will Be Announced in December

A respectable insider, Lunatic Ignus (@ignusthewise on X), who time and time again was correct for a lot of stuff, especially concerning Black Myth: Wukong, claims that we will see a lot of new titles and announcements on either The Game Awards (TGA, scheduled for Friday, December 13, 2024) or on Sony’s still unannounced Showcase event (it is believed it will be hosted on PlayStation’s 30th anniversary, on December 3, 2024).

The fans are a bit skeptical, believing it is way too early for a new era of God of War. “It’s probably god of war Greece saga remastered for 20th anniversary of the franchise,” said Kaladin1999. Others say it will most likely be another collection or remasters

While we cannot guarantee anything, Lunatic Ignus has proven a reliable insider, so we are looking forward to December and the reveals. We expect the next era will be an Egyptian one, to round off the trio of most popular ”Western” mythologies. However, we won’t be surprised if the devs take a hard turn and we see Kratos and Atreus in Chinese, Japanese, or even Mayan worlds.
