The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild captivated gamers all over the world with its vast open world and intricate storyline. With the upcoming sequel, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, fans are excited to explore even more of the beautiful land of Hyrule. While we’re sure there will be plenty of new places to discover in the sequel, especially in the sky, there are also some iconic places from Breath of the Wild that we think will be worth revisiting.
Here are seven places that you should definitely check back on in the upcoming installment.
7. Hyrule Castle
Hyrule Castle was the central point of Breath of the Wild’s storyline and it will certainly play a significant role in Tears of the Kingdom as well. After being destroyed in the previous game, we see Link and Zelda exploring its depths in the trailer for the upcoming title. This almost confirms Hyrule Castle as a mandatory location to visit in the game, but it’ll be interesting regardless to see the new developments in the iconic location.

Some fans have speculated that the new Sunken Hyrule Castle could act as the first “classic dungeon” from older Zelda titles, something that was noticeably missing in Breath of the Wild.
6. Kakariko Village
Kakariko Village is a charming location that players will remember from Breath of the Wild. Home to important characters such as Impa, Kakariko Village was always a peaceful and serene place to revisit. Kakariko Village was always a bustling town full of interesting characters and fun side quests. So, spending some time here will likely be quite interesting.
Some players theorize that Kakariko Village might not see the same peace we’re used to from the previous title and that Ganon’s declaration of war on Hyrule might catch this area and its residents in the crossfire.
5. Gerudo Town
Gerudo Town was home to the champion Urbosa in Breath of the Wild, known for its unique architecture and all-female population. Link was not able to enter this town without cross-dressing in the previous game, and this will likely remain the same in Tears of the Kingdom.
Regardless, with Gerudo Town also being home to Urbosa’s descendant Riju, it is likely that Link will have to sneak into the town once again.

4. The Great Plateau
The Great Plateau was where Link began his journey in Breath of the Wild and it was a great place to get your bearings in the game. It’s an important and memorable location for many players. This place was also home to several puzzles and shrines. So, it’ll be interesting to see how Tears of the Kingdom chooses to fill up this area.
Regardless of whether or not it plays as important a role in the story of Tears of the Kingdom, it will be exciting to see if there are any new secrets or hidden areas to uncover on The Great Plateau in Tears of the Kingdom.
3. Akkala City Ruins
The Akkala Citadel Ruins were once a great fortress, built by the ancient Hyrulean civilization to defend against threats from the north. However, over time the citadel was abandoned and it eventually fell into ruin. In Breath of the Wild, the ruins are a spooky and atmospheric location full of powerful enemies and valuable loot.
With the rich history of these ruins as well as them being home to the “Test of the Labyrinth,” it’ll be fascinating to see what new things the developers decide to do with this location. Perhaps the ruins have been rebuilt? Or maybe the city has become home to even more vicious enemies than in Breath of the Wild.
2. Zora’s Domain
Zora’s Domain was a breathtaking location in Breath of the Wild with its waterfalls and towering structures. It had one of the most stunning architectural layouts in the entire franchise, and it will likely be further revamped in Tears of the Kingdom.
This was also home to the Champion Mipha’s younger brother Prince Sidon whose help Link will likely have to recruit to defeat the game’s looming threat.
1. The Lost Woods/ Korok Village
The Lost Woods are the pathway to the mythical Korok Village where Link regains the Master Sword in Breath of the Wild. This place is home to both the Koroks as well as the Great Deku Tree, one of the most important characters in the previous game.
It would be nigh impossible for the developers to neglect this area as it is both important to the game’s story and also the series’ lore in general. Perhaps you have to reach the Korok Village again to repair the seemingly broken Master Sword or maybe the game is even more ambitious, requiring you to recruit the Koroks to help you in your battle against the armies of evil.
