Yes, Persona 3 Reload is a remake of Persona 3 from 2006. It remains faithful to the original story, but with a lot of gameplay and quality-of-life updates, more in line with the latest installments, like Persona 5. In short, this will be almost the same game as Persona 3 but upgraded to match the current technology, with some tweaks and improvements. But what are those tweaks and improvements?
What Is Changed in Persona 3 Reload?
Persona 3 Reload is reworked from the ground up to keep it in line with the more recent releases. Most of them are mechanical or quality-of-life improvements, and here are some of them:
- A “heads-up” display for objectives has been added, like in Persona 5, to ease the tracking of where, what, and when to do something to progress the story.
- The map display has been improved to give you more info.
- Added activities beyond the main story, like conversations with other characters, preparing food, renting movies and books, tending to plants, etc. Each of these activities has in-game benefits.
- Questions from high-school teachers are completely revamped.
- Free camera control.
- Removal of the “Fatigue” mechanic from earlier titles.
- The protagonist and the party can now fully sprint (with the risk of attracting unwanted attention).
- Battles are updated to work similarly to Persona 5.
