How to Defeat Shadow of the Void Boss in Persona 3 Reload

The Shadow of the Void boss makes a formidable opponent should you choose to enter battle in Persona 3 Reload. With no weaknesses or resistances and the ability to restore its own health each turn, the key to defeating this boss is dealing more damage than it’s able to replenish. To do this, you’re going to need the help of hard hitters and healers of your own. Let’s break down the plan.

Choosing Your Party

To take on Shadow of the Void, you’ll want to recruit Junpei, Aigis, and Yukari, and optimize the main character to heal various ailments and deal some damage along the way with different Personas. Both Junpei and Aigis are capable of dealing a significant amount of damage, acting as your hard hitters in this fight. This leaves Yukari to handle your team’s healing needs, and you to lend a hand when and where you can.

Starting the Battle

Once the Shadow of the Void begins attacking, you’ll want to go all in. This means using your most powerful moves, especially physical Strike attacks. Ideally, you should shoot to land a critical hit, though this isn’t entirely necessary for the plan to work — it just saves time.

If a member of your team comes down with an ailment as a result of poison, take a turn to use a healing item. Just remember, acting fast is key, or else the Shadow will take the opportunity to heal up.

Countering Attacks

Eventually, the Shadow will begin to use Strike attacks of its own as well as Magic. It’s important to keep up the pace at this point, taking turns to heal up only when necessary. Nip ailments in the bud quick to get back in action and continue dealing as much damage as possible.

In the same vein, keep track of which buffs and debuffs are active on your team. Once worn out, be sure to recast as soon as you can to maximize damage output and keep walls up. If multiple buffs or debuffs wear down in a short span of time, you can recast from one turn to the next to avoid losing an entire turn and allowing the Shadow to regain its health.

Ending the Fight

As the battle seemingly comes to a close, Shadow of the Void will heal itself entirely. While frustrating, don’t let its tactics shake you up — just keep dishing out high-damage attacks and healing up your team as necessary. Critical hits at this point can help to speed things along, as you can use an All-Out attack as a result. However, you can always go in with Theurgy attacks if you’d rather not test the odds. This will wear your opponent down fast, securing a victory for the S.E.E.S.
