Nvidia’s RTX 50 series is about to release, well the RTX 5090 and 5080 are anyway. The reviews for the flagship Founders Edition dropped recently and the overall consensus was….good. If we can look beyond Nvidia’s “performance” marketing from CES, the 50-series has received serious enhancements, with the flagship around 30% better in 4K than its predecessor. They’ve managed to bring the FE size down to 2-slots, while seriously improving its cooler, all in a rather aesthetically pleasing way. The RTX 5090 and 5080 will be available to buy on the 30th of January, with some predicting stock shortages. There is no specific date for the RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti, however, they are confirmed for February.

RTX 50 Series Release Date: 5090 & 5080 Arrives First

Nvidia’s RTX 5090 and 5080 launch on January 30th, likely joined by the non-MSRP reviews. The two cards are expected to be available to buy at 9 am ET, 8 am CT, 6 am PT, 2 pm GMT. We imagine there will be a limited amount of Founders Edition cards available, however, the usual AIB partners will also make an appearance.

The RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti will follow this launch in a few weeks – scheduled for February.

Some retailers already list the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 in the US and UK. Unfortunately, they are just placeholder pages so you cannot buy or even pre-order them at this stage. You can, however, ask specific retailers to notify you when a card becomes available to buy.

RTX 50 Series Pre Order & Price

Pre-orders are quite rare for launches on day one of release unless stock sells out, and guaranteeing one for the listed MSRP is going to be quite the challenge. Expectations around this launch are extremely high, with scalpers and greedy third-party sellers often crashing Nvidia parties, leading to potential price inflation. Pre-ordering may be the better option to secure one at launch. Overclockers UK states that pre-orders for the cards go live on January 30th, potentially indicating limited stock.

As mentioned, the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 will be released later and are currently listed for $749 and $549 respectively. The 5070 will launch at $50 cheaper than its predecessor with similar performance to an RTX 4090 – impressive if true. We have seen pre order options for previous launches but Nvidia may cut these short to ensure customers don’t receive the cards early. This is speculative but if the launch is as popular as we expect, you may see pre orders go live once initial stock has dried up.
