The Day of Memories is a major event in My Time at Sandrock. You can think of it as a holiday to better understand its significance in the desert community and surrounding towns. To take part in the Day of Memories, you can head on over to City Hall in the heart of Sandrock on the day of the festivities. Directly in front of the building, you’ll find a decorative booth where you can register to participate in the activities planned for the day. This won’t cost you any Gols, so it’s definitely worth it to experience all the holiday has to offer. You’ll also receive reminders for every activity to ensure you have time to prepare.

Once you’ve signed up, your day will start off strong with a commemorative moment of silence in the square. This will occur soon after the morning registration period if you decide to sign up at the start of your day. Matilda will lead the residents of Sandrock in prayer following a stirring reminder of why the holiday is so special within the community.

After this, you’ll have a bit of time to kill before you meet up with the townsfolk for an exciting game of ghost-hunting. This mini-game will run the course of four rounds in total, with two spent hunting and another two spent hiding. Think of it as a festive game of hide-and-seek.

To top off the evening, you’ll meet up with your fellow Sandrockers by the train station to release ceremonial lanterns. You can even choose which lantern you’d like to use, adding a personal touch to the event and closing out the day.

Once you’ve signed up to participate, you can join the residents of Sandrock for a game of ghost-hunting in the square. This will take place later in the day, so you’ll have time to finish a few other tasks in the meantime. When the game begins, you’ll be assigned the role of either a Ghost or a Ghost Hunter. Your objective differs depending on your role, and you’ll need to play your part to score rewards.

Ghost-Hunting

As a Ghost Hunter, your job is to seek out the residents who are hiding in the square. Their disguises can range anywhere from a spooky scarecrow to an unassuming trashcan. Because of this, the task at hand can be rather tough. To make matters worse, you can only check for hidden residents by using a Ghost Detector, a single-use item exclusive to the hunter role.

Before the round begins, you can earn extra Ghost Detectors from a mini-game inside the waiting booth. If you’re lucky, you’ll manage to snag a couple before time runs out.

Hiding as a Ghost

In my experience, hiding was much easier than hunting during the hide-and-seek activity. You’ll have about a minute to get yourself situated in an ideal hiding spot. Once you’ve settled on a place to hide, you can then choose from three disguises. These change with each round, so you should consider the costumes at your disposal prior to setting up. Depending on your disguise, certain hiding spots will lend you better odds of winning the match.

You’ll be notified if your hiding spot isn’t the best. However, this doesn’t necessarily make or break a round. I hid in an alley during my first match as a Ghost. Apparently, this wasn’t an ideal hiding spot. Concealed as an inconspicuous trashcan, however, I managed to best my rivals.

The event will end with a ceremonial lantern release. This takes place over at the train station by your workshop. Upon arrival, you’ll see a long table lined with different styles of lanterns. You can freely choose which one you’d like to set off for the activity, and you have the option to release several. The best part: lanterns are free of charge.

Once you’ve picked a lantern, it will automatically equip to your character. You can then release it using the same directive as weapons and other equipment. By the time you finish up the Day of Memories festivities, you’ll need to head to bed for a restful sleep.
