It’s one of the most controversial maps in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but we can’t be the only ones who thought Santa Sena Border crossing is a lot of fun. Well, turns out we’re not, if the comments on the Modern Warfare 2 sub-reddit are anything to go by.
MW2 fans are claiming that since the Season 2 update, the map has all but vanished from lobbies. And while a lot of people are glad to see the back of the never-ending road of exploding cars (fans even pleaded with Activision for a map vote system), absence it seems does the make the heart grow fonder.

“I like this map, I’m sad it’s not in the rotation more. Having said that I see why it’s not popular lol,” one Modern Warfare 2 player wrote on Reddit.
One added: “I actually enjoyed this map. The exploding cars didn’t really hurt me lol.” While another said: “Valderas museum is worse than border crossing.”
For those yet to experience Santa Sena, the map contains hundreds of vehicles, which can be blown up. Unlike the relatively open and fast paced maps in the game, such as Crown Raceway, Santa is far more linear and demands a different playstyle.

This often sees players either adopt one of two strategies. Camp on top of camper vans (no pun intended) or run around the cars, usually crouched, and pick people off.
The main issue with the map is it’s such a different pace and requires a completely different strategy to most of the other maps out there. Plus, as one MW2 fan eloquently puts it: “My stats at Border Crossing… deaths by car explosions 789, deaths by a players gun or scorestreak 576….”
Since the update, the Valderas Museum and Dome maps are popping up a bit more frequently, with Santa Sena appearing to be lower down the pecking order. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll see 24/7 Santa Sena…. stranger things have happened.
