Um, haven’t we been through this already? Monster Hunter Wilds developers have announced a new set of changes to time-based Competition Quests. Even though these changes will overall improve the players’ experience, the community isn’t happy. The players are mostly annoyed by the devs’ indecisiveness. So, what should you expect from Competition Quests in the future?

Competition Quests Will Undergo a Makeover

On June 5, the devs took to the official Monster Hunter X page and shared some information about what they were working on for the Title Update 2. They decided to change the Event Reward distribution and continue fighting against cheaters.

So, at the very beginning, there were rewards for Participation, Rank A, and ranking in the top 10k. The devs changed this to only Participation and Rank A rewards, as they tried to deal with cheaters.

Well, the devs stated: “Starting with Title Update 2, a new Rank B will be introduced, and rewards will now be distributed in three categories: Participation reward, Rank B reward, and Rank A reward. Along with the introduction of the Rank B reward, the criteria for the Rank A reward will also be revised”.

Obviously, the fight with cheaters is never-ending, so you can expect some changes there as well. The devs noted: “Clear times that are clearly the result of cheating will not be registered in the rankings, and affected users will automatically be subject to usage restrictions. If a user is restricted, their clear times will no longer be recorded in any rankings from that point onward, and they will no longer be eligible to receive event rewards”.

Players can also expect more investigations and exclusions during the ranking aggregation period. The devs will either suspend or restrict the accounts of the players they catch cheating.

Furthermore, the Monster Hunter Wilds devs shared an image that showed the changes to Competition Quests. The players can expect a Mark of Contest pendant for participation, a Mark of Bravery pendant for reaching Rank B, and a Mark of Mastery pendant for reaching Rank A.

Monster Hunter Wilds Players Aren’t Too Happy About the Changes

Now, even though these changes are positive, some players didn’t appreciate them. This is mainly due to devs’ decision to fight cheaters rather than work on “real issues”. One player noted: “Fighting the cheats in a non-competitive game before fixing the bugs, what strategists”.

Another player, Titus, added: “I had SO much fun putting efforts into getting to the top 10K in the first challenge exactly because of how challenging that would be. And you guys just ruined it all because some people couldn’t stand the idea of not getting one pendant. Really disappointed but it is what it is”.

To be fair, the devs are probably working on fixing bugs as well. Unfortunately, the cheater problem proved to be too big for the first reward system to work. Hopefully, the devs will find a solution that will satisfy all sides. In the meantime, let’s try to take Gore Magala together. Also, don’t forget to complete this week’s Event Quests. Enjoy and happy hunting.
