Modern Warfare 2 – How To Unlock The MP5

One of the best weapons to pull this off effortlessly every time is the fan-favorite SMG, none other than the MP5, which is now known as the Lachmann Sub. 

That said, many players are left scratching their heads regarding how they can get their hands on this gun in the new Gunsmith system. If you are one of those people, read on as we’ll guide you on how to unlock this gun. 

How To Get the MP5 (Lachmann Sub) in MW2

To Unlock the MP5, also known as the Lachmann Sub, in MW2, players need to be at progression level 16. At this level, they will unlock the Lachmann-762 Battle Rifle. This will enable you to unlock weapons in the Lachmann and Meer Platform, which is the Weapon Platform containing the MP5. Below is a list of weapons you need to level up to unlock the MP5:

1. Level up the Lachmann-762 Battle Rifle to level 13 to unlock the LM-16 Reciever.
2. Select the LM-16 Reciever on the Lachmann-762 Battle Rifle in its Weapon Attachments to use the Lachmann-556 Assault Rifle.
3. Level up the Lachmann-556 Assault Rifle to level 12 to unlock the Lach-9 Reciever.
4. Applying this Receiver will finally unlock the MP5 (Lachmann Sub).

How To Check the MP5 Unlock Status in MW2

In MW2, you can check the Weapon Platform tree for MP5 (or any weapon) you wish to unlock. Over here, you can learn and find out the weapons you need to unlock and level up in order to get your hands on the MP5. If you’re wondering how to open the Lachmann and Meer Platform tree though, simply follow the step-by-step guide below:  

1. Go to your weapon loadout in the Gunsmith.
2. Hover over your weapon (you can go to any Lachmann weapon or the Lachmann Sub in SMGs).
3. Press the button on your keyboard or controller shown below your weapon’s name to open the full Weapon Platform.
4. You’ll be able to see the whole Weapon Platform tree where you can find your weapon
