Ah, this sounds too good to be true! As you most likely know, memory overload has been an issue for many players. Well, great news for the Marvel Rivals community, the developers have announced that an experimental Switch Shader Compilation Mode will be available in Season 2. Hopefully, this mode will make the whole experience more enjoyable.

The Experimental Mode Might Help With Some Performance Issues in Marvel Rivals

On April 10, a day before the Season 2 update is scheduled to drop, the devs addressed the new feature. They disclosed everything the players should know about this experimental new mode on the official site.

The devs reflected on all the issues the players reported, the lag, the crashes, and the performance stutters. They noted: “PCs equipped with 16GB of RAM or less, when faced with excessive RAM usage, can force the system to use swap memory, leading to unwanted slowdowns in the heat of battle”.

Thankfully, they have come up with a solution for these problems. For the time being, during Season 2, the Switch Shader Compilation Mode is going to be an experimental feature. That means that the devs are still tweaking this mode and might introduce various changes. You’ll be able to activate this feature through the PC launcher.

What to Expect From the Switch Shader Compilation Mode

So, how will the Switch Shader Compilation Mode improve your experience in the Marvel Rivals? The developers shared a list of everything this feature should do, as well as some known issues, as it’s still an experimental feature.

The devs stated: “The shader compilation process will only run when first entering the game after a new game version or graphics driver update. Game memory usage is dramatically reduced, cutting down on severe FPS drops, frozen visuals, and crashes triggered by memory shortages”.

As for the known issues, there are a couple. The devs disclosed: “In each new match, some materials might initially render abnormally for a few frames before returning to their usual state. Rest assured, rendering will behave normally for the remainder of the match. In each new match, you may encounter a slight stutter during the first rendering of certain materials, after which the frames stabilize into a smooth, continuous flow”.

Who should use this mode? The devs advised: ” On systems with a limited number of CPU threads (6 or fewer), enabling both the Switch Shader Compilation Mode and AMD FSR3 Frame Generation concurrently might induce additional stutters”.

So, if you are having trouble with dips in FPS, lagging, or crashes, we hope the new mode will improve your experience. After all, we all want to play Emma Frost smoothly. Enjoy the game, and see you out there.
