As with all relatively new games, Marvel Rivals faces some problems. Most recently, the majority of the issues have been community-related. Now, that is completely normal, every growing community faces problems, and this one is growing fast. Well, the devoted Marvel Rivals players noticed a surge in bullying, and they won’t allow their community to turn into one of those toxic places.
Bullying Shouldn’t Be Allowed
If you’ve played even one match in Marvel Rivals, you already know how competitive this game is. And, when people get competitive, well, they tend to passionately insist on certain things. Especially when they are losing. And, in theory, there’s nothing wrong with that. However, getting overly passionate about something doesn’t have to mean that the player in question has any right to bully any of their teammates.
Marvel Rivals is about teamwork, so each member of the team should be equal, as they all contribute in some way. We’ve seen many posts about Duelists being favored, and Strategists usually end up being chastised. Well, the Marvel Rivals community has decided to put a stop to that behavior.
One player took to Reddit and shared their opinions on bullying. They noted: “I don’t care if someone isn’t playing up to your standards, being “competitive” isn’t an excuse to harass someone. – A Captain America main”.
Marvel Rivals Community Supports Equality
Hundreds of Marvel Rivals players agreed and took a stand against bullying. Many shared their experiences and what they thought bullying was or wasn’t. For example, the majority of players noted that the tone someone used was very important. If someone politely asked you to switch your character for another one, while giving you space to politely decline, that’s completely fine.
However, some toxic players think of themselves as leaders and don’t ask, but order other players what to do. This behavior can escalate into bullying, insults, and just plain rudeness. This behavior should be unacceptable.
One player, bcbfalcon, stated: “People insulting their team and telling them to switch need to focus on their own gameplay. Yeah, your teammate may be playing like garbage this match and playing an unoptimal character for this situation, but you’re not a coach, and bossing them around (or “suggesting advice” as some of you put it) is going to piss them off rather than help. If you’re playing well, then on average you should be climbing rank. If you’re on a losing streak you should get off for the night. Believe it or not but you can play ranked team games without making it unfun for your team when you’re losing”.
Fun. That’s what it’s supposed to be about. We all get carried away sometimes, sure. But, it’s always good to remember that the players someone’s playing with are real people trying to have fun. So, never treat people the way you wouldn’t want to be treated. After all, this game was made for everyone to enjoy in their own way. See you out there!
