Many players expected some big changes when Season 2 started. Most of all, the arrival of the new Vanguard, Emma Frost, kind of revived this role. Thus, Marvel Rivals support players hoped the Duelists would want to try playing some Strategists once they saw how cool Emma and the tanks were. However, the situation is more dire than ever. There’s usually just one Strategist on a team, and they often get blamed for losing.
Strategist Is Probably the Most Challenging Role
We’ve often mentioned how there aren’t enough Strategists and Vanguards in the game. Well, the tanks are now in a slightly better position, though they aren’t even close to Duelists. For some reason, maybe because it’s such a demanding role, we’ve seen fewer and fewer Strategists lately.
In our experience, and many players confirmed this, non-Strategist players have extremely high expectations of the support players. While the Strategists manage to keep up, they hardly ever get any thanks. However, the moment things go south, everyone blames the Strategist. It’s extremely frustrating, and many players are getting burned out from the pressure they are under.
One player, itsbritneybench, noted: “I had a game at the weekend where the rest of the team completely ignored me and the other healer, constantly getting dived by Cap, Iron Fist, and Spider-Man. Then they had the audacity to blame us for losing, even claimed we were throwing the game”.
Support Your Strategists in Marvel Rivals!
The only way that this role will be able to survive is if the other two roles realize they are all in this together. The idea is for the teammates to support each other. Instead, it often feels like the support players are left to fend for themselves while simultaneously trying to heal all the other players.
Mammoth_Strategy_935 noted: “You’d be surprised how many games you win if you just protect the Strategists. If you protect your healers in this new dive world, you’ll be loved and win a lot of your games because the picks will come to you”.
Another player, devkon-_-2k, added: “It is the most miserable role in the game despite how ‘easy’ it is to the apparent people that have never played it. If you want heals, if you wanna win, or if you wanna stay alive, maybe make an effort in helping your supports. It’s not fun dying”.
Hundreds of players agreed with these statements. Truth be told, it’s only fair to support the Strategists who support you. So, the next time you play, remember to be helpful and protect the support. Teamwork is crucial if you want to win. Enjoy the game, and see you out there!
