A strong villain is almost as important as a good hero. If you think about it, if it weren’t for all the bad guys, there wouldn’t really be a need for all the superheroes we know and love. The balance between the good and the bad is quite important. With the recent addition of two new Heroes, The Thing and the Human Torch, Marvel Rivals players took notice of the lack of villains in the game. The Green Goblin could bring some diversity, don’t you agree?
The Green Goblin Would Wreak Chaos
There are some villains that you simply love to hate. For many Marvel fans that’s the Green Goblin. And one can’t simply talk about the Green Goblin without mentioning Willem Dafoe and his iconic performance. His terrific portrayal of the Green Goblin marked so many childhoods and certainly contributed to Marvel’s popularity in the early 2000s.
Many players are all for the addition of the Green Goblin. One of them, Ok-Conference9759, noted: “His arsenal of gadgets, chaotic energy, and iconic rivalry with Spider-Man would make him an unforgettable addition”.
This player came up with a bunch of ideas for the fan-favorite villain. The OP suggested Pumpkin Bombs, Razor Bats, Goblin Glider, and Electrified Gauntlets as perfect gadgets for the Green Goblin. Given that this villain is highly unpredictable, and if he had the Goblin Glider, highly mobile, he could wreak chaos in Marvel Rivals.
The OP noted: “His twisted, theatrical nature would add so much personality to the game, making every match feel more intense. Green Goblin isn’t just another villain—he’s the villain that embodies chaos, strategy, and psychological warfare. Marvel Rivals needs that energy”.
Marvel Rivals Could Benefit From More Villains
Hundreds of players agreed with the plea for the Green Goblin to be added to the game, however, maybe even more importantly, this idea triggered a discussion about the lack of “bad guys”. Marvel Rivals players would love to see some more villains.
If you think about it, there aren’t many bad guys to start with, and one could argue that Hela is the only true villain. Other baddies are either anti-heroes or have different well-motivated arcs. The first Marvel comic came out in 1939, so it makes sense that with a tradition that long, some characters changed completely, or at least received backstories that would justify their behavior. Of course, there are some that remain true villains.
Agreeable_Store_3896 stated: “Hela is arguably the only true villain. We need some Carnage, Kingpin, Scorpion, Task Master, Doom, Mr Sinister, Bullseye, Shocker”. We are sure there are even more villains out there, and we hope the devs will hear this plea. They’ve made some great decisions and listened to players so far, so hopefully they will do so again.
While we wait for the Green Goblin, Kingpin, Bullseye, or any other villain to join the roster, let’s enjoy what we already have. Or, maybe what we’re positive we will have, like Blade, for example. The second half of the first Season is slowly starting, so get ready! Enjoy and see you out there.
