Leveling up in Lies of P is a crucial aspect of progressing through the game, just like you would expect from a soulslike game. However, unlike Dark Souls, where you could level up at any bonfire, Lies of P demo presents a level-up system that might be a little difficult to get a hang of. So, without further ado, let’s find out how you can level up in Lies of P.
How To Level Up After Beating The Parade Master
You can level up in Lies of P by spending Ergo at Stargazers. However, once you reach Hotel Krat after defeating the Parade Master, you can only level up by talking to Sophia. To level up for the first time in the game, you will need to find the Stargazer at the Krat Central Station. The Stargazer will allow you to use the Ergo that you accumulated while cleansing the streets of all those creepy puppets to buff your stats.
However, you can find many more Stargazers in the city, as they mainly act as checkpoints that you can use to heal, teleport, and respawn. So, naturally, one would think that they can level up at any Stargazer as well. Unfortunately, this is not the case since after reaching Hotel Krat, the only way to level up would be to interact with Sophia.
This method of leveling up has many new players confused, as Lies of P departs from the traditional soulslike level-up system.
That being said, leveling up in Lies of P is only beneficial if you upgrade the right stats. The streets of Krat can be very unforgiving if your stats don’t match your playing style. This leaves us with only one question: What does each stat do, and which one should you upgrade first (well, technically, two questions)?

What Do The Stats Do In Lies of P?
In Lies of P, you can utilize your Ergo to level up six different stats, namely Vitality, Vigor, Capacity, Motivity, Technique, and Advance. If you are wondering what these terms mean, we have explained below what you get by buffing each of these stats.
Vitality
Vitality is responsible for increasing your character’s HP. Additionally, higher Vitality also awards you with better Guard Regain, which means that you regain health after landing hits on enemies after blocking their attacks.
Vigor
Vigor improves your stamina bar, meaning that you’ll be able to attack and dodge more before your stamina is depleted.
Capacity
Capacity increases your equipment load so that you don’t fat roll when you are carrying heavy items and weapons.
Motivity
Motivity increases your capability to fight with heavier weapons like the Greatsword of Fate Blade and the Krat Police Baton Head, as they will scale in damage with this stat.
Technique
Technique, in contrast to Motivity, gives you an edge while using lighter weapons such as the Wintry Rapier’s Blade.
Advance
Advance is the odd-one-out over here since it might be difficult to find its counterpart in the other soulslike games. However, if you have played Bloodborne, you might be familiar with the Arcane stat. Advance is similar to Arcane in the sense that it scales certain weapons, most notably the Electric Coil Stick Head Blade.
