The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition is now available for pre-order through select retailers, presumably more to follow as we near the game’s release in May. However, the price is pretty steep at a whopping $129.99 through GameStop and other providers.

Unsurprisingly, this shocked many long-time fans of the franchise. That’s nearly double the cost of its standard edition counterpart at just $69.99, so is the Collector’s Edition really worth it?

Let’s go over the value of the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition in terms of its contents and fan service.

What Comes With The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition?

The Collector’s Edition of the latest Legend of Zelda installment contains several exclusive memorabilia items currently unavailable for purchase elsewhere, which definitely ups its worth. In addition to a physical copy of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you will also get:

  • A Collector’s Edition Box.
  • An Art Book featuring the game’s official artwork and concept art.
  • A SteelBook® Case on theme with the new installment’s storyline.
  • An official Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom ICONART Poster.
  • A boxset containing four exclusive pin badges.

Since the standard edition of the game costs $69.99, we can deduce that these additional items cost $60 altogether. Given everything that’s included in the Collector’s Edition, the supplemental cost may actually be worth it.

To put this in perspective, a Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild art book similar to the book included in the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition ranges from nearly $30 at Target to over $80 at Walmart.

With that, we can safely assume that an art book for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom would come to a similar price when sold separately, so the Collector’s Edition is priced fairly with the inclusion of an official art book alone.
