The possibility of Call of Duty Mobile shutting down feels more likely lately. Apex Legends Mobile is shutting down after only a year, so many are looking at the Activision IP.
However, the Call of Duty Mobile wouldn’t be affected even if Apex Legends Mobile couldn’t make it.
Is Call of Duty Mobile going to shut down?
No, Call of Duty Mobile will not shut down. It is still one of the most successful mobile apps and is beloved by many fans of the series.
In fact, Call of Duty Mobile already started Season 2 on February 22. It’s also enticing players with new weapons and perks on a new Battle Pass.
As if sensing this may be a question on fans’ minds, the title of the blog post for Season 2 is “All Gas, No Breaks.” This is a play on the “Heavy Metal” season title and an affirmation that they’re not stopping.
So why is everyone worried the game will be shutting down soon?

The concern comes from Apex Legends Mobile shutting down. Respawn said that this was due to “quality, quantity, and cadence.” This means Call of Duty Mobile has less competition and less reason to shut down.
Battlefield Mobile is also no longer in development, leaving even more for Activision’s mobile IP to take in.
Actision’s only real competition for Mobile shooters is EA and Epic Games. Fortnite is still recovering from a lengthy legal battle on mobile, so there’s not much competition from Epic. It would be wise for Activision to capitalize on the demand.
With no rivals in sight, it’s easy to assume that Call of Duty Mobile will not go anywhere anytime soon. So you can keep challenging opponents to 1v1s, and enjoy new seasons.
