What would Nikki do without her companion and best friend? We don’t even dare imagine! Momo is a permanent fixture in the Nikki universe, but did you know that he’s quite different in Infinity Nikki than in the previous installations? Devoted players share what changed about Nikki’s not-a-cat companion.
Momo Changed Quite a Bit
Momo is always by our side. His yellow cloak with the red bow is truly iconic (of course, you can switch it up and coordinate it with your outfit). However, if you have been playing previous Nikki games, you know that he wasn’t always this nice and thoughtful. The original Momo was kind of a bad boy, a bit greedy, snarky, and sassy. Still, Momo always showed some kind of love for Nikki.
In our opinion, Momo is a bit more socially acceptable in Infinity Nikki, but there was something endearing about his previous portrayals as well. Devoted players also noticed this change, though not many were surprised by it. Surprisingly enough, this change made the game a bit more female-friendly.
Rinny_Mae noted: “Momo’s 180 in personality will never not surprise me. Don’t get me wrong I think both portrayals are interesting, og Momo is kinda funny but when you’ve played the previous Nikki games I kinda went in expecting to see my good Ol out-of-pocket Momo. But I also indefinitely see why they would change his personality for a more mass release around the world”.
Infinity Nikki Fans Compare Their Momo Experiences
Other Nikki fans also noticed the changes in Momo’s behavior. Several players reminisced about Momo’s love for grilled fish. Flat-Mirror-9566 noted: “Yeah, I remember he was all about grilled fish in LN and would openly insult Nikki if she lost a styling competition. Those were the days”.
Players also recalled all of the insults that Momo used to throw around, and some of them were, well, quite nasty. One player, hahsbejdjdkxdnd, stated: “Shining Nikki Momo is also pretty polite compared to Momo in Love Nikki who was only there to insult you or Bobo and harass random women”.
Still, we’d say that toning Momo down was the right call for Infinity Nikki. Sure, if you like sassy sidekicks like we do, you might miss the OG Momo, but for the majority of players, the new and improved Momo is way more palatable. So, enjoy the time you spend with your dear Momo, who knows, maybe he’ll go back to his old snarky self.
