How To Get Bot Lobbies in MW2

A soldier named Ghost wears a skull mask stares at the screen. He has black make up so the eye sockets look like a real skull's sockets. He does not look happy. He is wearing a headset for speaking purposes.

Due to skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Season 2, the game can have some challenging rounds. The feeling of a high-intensity battle is usually fun, but not every game needs to be that way. You sometimes want to test your skills against bots, but MW2 doesn’t have a clear way to do so.

Fortunately, there is a way to accomplish this, it takes time, but is worth it to join online servers and be ready to play in the matchmaking system and climb from lower ranks to high skill lobbies where you can show off your practice.

How To Set Up Bot Lobbies in MW2

There are two methods to get bot lobbies: smurfing and manipulating SBMM. Both of these require time but do not take much effort. You may have to work through some low skill games and face low ranking players along the way. These types of matches are a great way to learn the game as they are easy lobbies.

Keep in mind that a moderator or admin may ban you if they find out you’re doing either, as this can be considered boosting, so we don’t recommend it. The purpose of this article is to provide educational information. Instead, why not get some lesser skilled friends and get better together. This provides a more casual FPS experience and lets you learn the game in a cycle against the easier players in easier lobbies.

How to Smurf in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2

Smurfing in Modern Warfare 2 is essentially making a new account with a new e-mail and playing on it. If you are on PC, it should be very easy to do so, but if you’re on PlayStation or Xbox, you’ll need to disconnect your Activision account from your username.

The game will recognize you when you use the PlayStation or Xbox associated with your Activision account. Activision will treat you as if you’ve never had an account before if you disconnect it and link it to a new account. You can always make a new PlayStation or Xbox account, but you’ll have to pay for Xbox Gold and PlayStation Plus.

To smurf on MW2 on PC, you just need to sign up for a new Activision account using these steps:

  1. Go to the Activision website
  2. Click on the three lines at the top right corner of the page.
  3. Press the Sign Up button
  4. Enter your personal information, including your first and last name, email address, and date of birth.
  5. Choose a password and confirm it.
  6. Agree to the terms of service and privacy policy.
  7. Complete any additional steps, such as verifying your email address or setting up two-factor authentication, if prompted.

Once you’ve completed these steps, you should be signed up for a new Activision account.

Your first few lobbies will be bots so that the game can gauge your skill level. You’ll then get really easy players. There are claims that streamers do well this way, which might also help you gain a following.

How To Manipulate Skill-based Matchmaking in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2

The second option is to manipulate the service, but you should really only do this on your smurf account. Basically, SBMM takes your record and puts you against people at your same skill level.

So to manipulate SBMM, you have to play noticeably worse in games.

You’ll most likely find yourself in a bot lobby if you play five to seven games with a terrible K/D ratio and lose most matches. It’s obvious to your teammates and the opposing team, so if you do it too clearly, you’ll be reported for throwing.

Can I Be Banned for Using Bot Lobbies in MW2?

Yes, using bot lobbies in Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) can result in a ban from the game. Bot lobbies are an exploit where players use third-party software to create private multiplayer matches filled with AI-controlled bots instead of other human players. Players use these bot lobbies to quickly gain experience points, level up their accounts, and unlock new weapons, perks, and achievements that carry over to another game mode.

Using bot lobbies violates the terms of service and end user license agreement of the game, and Activision, the game’s publisher, has been known to take action against players who use them. This can result in a temporary or permanent ban from the game, depending on the severity of the offense.

It’s important to note that cheating, including the use of bot lobbies, undermines the game’s integrity and negatively impacts other players’ experience. Therefore, using bot lobbies in MW2 or any other game is not recommended and you may be banned like hackers are.

You can get around this by using a VPN such as NordVPN or ExpressVPN. This may be harder for console players, but you’ll want to check the best VPN locations. But remember, the above method can get you banned, so it is better to be cautious on the off chance.

Tips for Setting up Bot Lobbies in MW2

There are a few ways to help influence the game to put you in a bot lobby, but they’re not guaranteed:

  • Leave immediately after the game starts twice.
    • Apparently, the game thinks your Internet connection is poor, so it won’t put you with players with better connections because of the possibility that you’ll drop out.
  • Use a VPN and put yourself in a country with a lower player count. This way, the game has to fill in bots to fill out teams faster. Countries we recommend are:
    • Albania
    • Bosnia and Herzegovina
    • Singapore
    • Lithuania
    • Serbia
    • Greece
  • Play with friends who are worse than you at the game
    • When you do the above, you usually end up in their lobbies.
  • Turn off Crossplay
    • Go to Settings
    • Select Account Network
    • Go to Crossplay
    • Toggle it to Off

Following the tips above will increase your chances of ending up in bot-filled lobbies. Alternatively, you can use Discord Servers and Chat Groups to find players of your skill level to practice against without fear of being banned.
